Extracurricular reading is very important for the development of students,so the effectiveness of extracurricular reading has become the focus of many people.The effectiveness of extracurricular reading means that these students spend less time and energy on independent reading activities,master the corresponding reading methods,understand the content of extracurricular reading texts,and gain knowledge and methods,emotional attitudes and values.This paper takes the extracurricular reading activities in Qidong County as the research object.Through the research on the development process of reading activities in Qidong County,it is found that it has the characteristics of government-led,classroom-based and real-time feedback as the supervision mechanism.The investigation uses questionnaires,interviews,and comparisons.The questionnaire contains five dimensions of content,one is the interest in extracurricular reading,the second is the implementation of the extracurricular reading activities in Qidong County,the third is reading habits,the fourth is reading ability,and the fifth is the family reading atmosphere.Among the students who participated in the survey,there were two students from Buyunqiao Town Central Primary School and Buyunqiao Town who had carried out reading activities,and students from Dingshan Experimental Primary School and Baihe Central Primary School who did not carry out reading activities.Through data comparison,it is analyzed that the extracurricular reading activities in Qidong County are more effective in improving students' reading interest,cultivating good reading habits and improving reading ability.This is inseparable from the county education-led reading promotion activities in Qidong County,and the participation of the folk power of the Qidong County Volunteers Association.The County Education Bureau has mandated that all primary schools in rural areas of Qidong County should incorporate reading lessons into their normal education and teaching programs.Combined with the survey data and interview results,it was found that the extracurricular reading activities in Qidong County were not good enough in the construction of the library and reading classes and the improvement of students' reading.This is related to the backward education concept of some school principals and the limited level of teachers' reading teaching.Principals are influenced by traditional test-oriented education,do not pay attention to extracurricular reading,and do not arrange reading classes.Teachers are limited by their own quality and do not have good reading methods.In response to these problems,combined with the active participation of the government departments of Qidong County in extracurricular reading promotion activities,the government has taken the lead in effectively reading assistance,strengthening reading awareness in schools,improving teachers' reading teaching ability,and creating a good family reading atmosphere.Provide reference and reference for improving the reading activities in Qidong County.
