Handwriting ability,an important part of fine motor ability, has an obvious influence on learning ability and quality of life for students with intellectual disabilities. Most of existing studies focus on overall fine motor training or put the training of handwriting ability into fine motor training, but there are few separate discussions and research on the training of handwriting ability,so this study explores its effectiveness for students with intellectual disabilities in the perspective of combination of medicine and education. The combination is mainly reflected in the three aspects including the mutual complementation of medical and educational evaluation, therapists, teachers and researchers work together to develop a training program, and the supervision of therapists and teachers in the intervention process. In this study, two students with intellectual disabilities in a special education school are selected as objects of study, and a multi-baseline cross-subject experimental design is adopted in the single subject experimental method. The researcher cooperates with the therapist and the class teacher to conduct an evaluation in a way of combination of medicine and education, and then develops a series of programs about the training of handwriting ability. The independent variable is programs, and the dependent variable is total score of ten items in the self-designed handwriting ability evaluation form. After the experimental treatment of subject-baseline period(A1),intervention period(B1),baseline period(A2),intervention period(B2),data analysis is performed by using visual analysis and C statistics.Combined with teaching feedback and interviews from parents and teachers, social validity of this study is established. Results of the research are as follows: first, fine motor evaluation with combination of medicine and education is effective and feasible;second, the training of handwriting ability has salient effect on improving the subjects' handwriting ability.Third, the intervention effect of subjects' handwriting ability is influenced by individual and external supporting factors.
