In recent years,as the construction of textbooks has gradually become a key area of education in China,the theoretical research and practical exploration of textbooks have also increased in the field of vocational education.At the same time,the concept of changing from the traditional subject curricula to the competency-based curriculum has been widely accepted in the field of vocational education,and to be truly implemented,the development of textbooks is an essential link.Therefore,the study starts from the theory of the competency-based curriculum and textbooks,explores the status of textbook development through interviews and text analysis,analyzes the problems and their causes in detail,and proposes corresponding countermeasures,so as to provide a reference for the development of high-quality textbooks for the competency-based curriculum.The competency-based curriculum aims to cultivate the vocational competency which is based on the view of integrating competency and the view of realistic competency,can meet the needs of individuals and societies,and can be applied to the field of practice.Starting points of the development of textbooks are the basic concept of the competency-based curriculum and its demand for textbook—taking the career field as the starting point for textbook development,the vocational competence as the core point of textbook development,and teaching processing as textbook development key point.The investigation of the current situation of the development of textbooks is conducted through two paths.The first is to understand the current process of textbook development through in-depth interviews with editors,who are also teachers involved in the development of textbooks.The researcher interviewed 20 editors who participated in the textbooks development of competency-based curriculum.After the interviews were recorded and transcribed,they were encoded at three levels using Nvivo11.In the end,six core codes were formed—the starting point for the textbook development,the concept of textbook development,the process of textbook development,the development of textbook content,the design of textbook structures,and the difficulty of textbook development.The second is to analyze developed textbooks of competency-based curricula,study the detailed analysis of the selected seven textbooks from the aspects of concept,content and structure,in order to understand how well textbooks reflect competency-based curricula.In the investigation,the research found that the current textbook development of competency-based curriculum has problems such as inadequate development concepts,irregular development processes,outmoded textbook contents,and widespread follow-up of textbook structures.Through actual investigation and theoretical analysis,the reasons behind those problems are that the textbook development system is incomplete,the organizational model is inherently inadequate,the developers' professionalism are lacking,the positioning of the textbook is incorrect,and the understanding of the competency-based is biased.Aiming at problems,the study proposes countermeasures to improve the quality of textbooks developed for the competency-based curriculum.The first is to clarify the concept of textbook development of the competency-based curriculum,including understanding of competency and textbook.The second is to improve the system of textbook development of competency-based curriculum,construct a sound development system,and organize professional developers.The third is to collect vocational information,to obtain enterprise resources through surveys and other methods,and to analyze vocational competences of the post.The fourth is to develop the content of textbooks by transforming vocational competences into teaching points and the enterprise information into teaching contents.The fifth is to design the structure of the textbook should be based on the field of vocations and vocational competencies as the smallest organizational unit.
