The concept of space is not only the component of space imagination, but also the basic element of innovation ability.Mathematics curriculum standards(2011 edition)clearly points out that space concept is one of the top ten core qualities required by quality education, which also occupies a large proportion in primary school mathematics textbooks and is an important part of primary school mathematics teaching. Therefore,it is particularly important to correctly understand space concept and develop students' space concept.Firstly, through the reading of the literature and the personal understanding of the "course standard",the concept of spatial concept is defined as: the concept of space refers to the perception of spatial attributes such as the size, shape and position of things and the analysis of rational thinking about these perceptions. The spatial concept is divided into four dimensions: spatial sense, decomposition and combination force, intuitive thinking power and drawing power. And we use the four dimensions of spatial concept to sort and analyze the “graphics and geometry” content in primary mathematics textbooks.Secondly, using the interview method to understand the elementary school mathematics teacher's spatial concept theory understanding situation;Questionnaire survey method and case analysis method were used to further investigate the teaching situation of spatial concepts, understanding the current teaching situation of spatial concepts.Through this series of theoretical analysis and investigation, the following conclusions are drawn:1.The four dimensions of the spatial concept are reflected in the mathematics textbooks of primary school, but the number of knowledge points in each dimension is different.2.The contents of "graphics and geometry" in each section also contain four dimensions of space concept, but there are differences in the emphasis of their cultivation.3.The spatial concept content in the mathematics textbook of primary school rises from level 0 to level 2 at the level of geometric thinking, which conforms to the characteristics of students' geometric thinking.4.Some teachers can understand the concept of space concept by enumerating specific contents, but in general, teachers' understanding of the concept of space concept is still insufficient.5.Most teachers can follow the characteristics of students' geometric thinking to teach space concepts. However,a small number of teachers are unable to accurately grasp the key issues of unit content in teaching, and the organized teaching activities cannot help students develop the relevant dimensions of spatial concepts.6.Teachers grasp the best in the teaching of decomposition and combination, but there are still some shortcomings in the teaching of the other three dimensions.7.Most teachers are willing to discuss the content teaching of “space concept”,and the school will also organize related activities, but these activities lack theoretical height and are easy to flow in form. Finally, based on the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward some suggestions for the teaching of space concept from the perspective of theory and specific teaching strategies.
