With the implementation of "double-class construction",universities have paid more and more attention to their position in the world university rankings,es pecially the indicators in the world university ranking system.Exploring its indicators has important theoretical and practical significance.On the one hand,it can provide some theoretical guidance for colleges and universities to upgrade their world un iversity rankings.On the other hand,it can also provide reference for universities to build world-class universities and world-class disciplines.This study uses correlation analysis and comparative analysis to explore in detail the specific indicators in the ARWU World University Rankings,THE World University Rankings,and QS World University Rankings.The study select s 149 domestic and foreign universities,including 24 domestic "double-class" universities.Firstly,the three world university rankings are analyzed.Secondly,the indicators are classified and reconstructed,clearly pointed out that the former is to reclassify the indicators of the world university ranking system,the latter is the reconstruction of the world university ranking system data to re-rank the university.the former is the basis of the latter and the latter is the support of the former.Finally,we selected 20 foreign world-class universities and 24 domestic "double-class" universities to conduct comparative analysis of their new indicators.The results show that: First,as far as the three world university ranking systems are concerned,the indicators are mainly divided into four categories,namely,education,scientific research,internationalization,and social services.Second,as far as domestic universities are concerned,the differences in education,scientific research,internationalization,and social services among domestic universities are uneven,but Tsinghua University and Peking University rank top in these four indicators.In addition to social service indicators,Hunan University scores the lowest on the other three indicators,and there is a certain gap between C9 University and other two-tier universities.Hunan University has a weak advantage in social service in dicators.Third,as far as universities at home and abroad are concerned,in terms of education,scientific research,and internationalization,compared with world-class universities,the gap between Tsinghua University and Peking University and a few fore ign world-class universities is small,but with world-class universities.The gap between the averages of universities is still very large.The gap between other domestic top universities is even greater.In terms of social service indicators,the average of domestic top universities exceeds the average of world-class universities.Except for a few domestic top-ranking universities,others have basically reached the level of world-class universities.Finally,in view of the problems existing in the domestic double-class construction of colleges and universities,the following suggestions are proposed: First,focus on improving the level of teaching and highlighting the quality of personnel training.Second,play and enhance the influence of scientific resear ch,improve and consummate scientific research incentive policies.Third,increase the intensity of internationalization and enhance international ties.Fourth,optimize the structure of teachers and build a world-class faculty.
