The history of the secondary education dates back to the Middle Ages, but the secondary education, which was not governed by the government, developed very slowly, the State Seldom promulgated educational policies, and there was never a uniform standard for education, the level of education at the various levels run and managed by the church is uneven.Until 1944,through government intervention,a three-stage national education system was initially established. After World War II,the British government began to play an effective role, more involved in the development of education. This will effectively promote the spread of the secondary education and improve the quality of education, but on the other hand,as a result of the traditional system of party change in Britain, and the fact that the two major parties in the secondary education hold very different educational ideas, which led to the reconstruction and transformation of the secondary education after the war after several twists and turns. The transformation of the public secondary education in Britain after the war was mainly from the system of separation into the system of integration, which was also the process of the secondary education from diversification to integration.During this period, labour and the conservatives came to power in turn, adopting very different guidelines for the secondary education. The secondary education's reform and development is complicated by the inevitable rivalry between the two parties. The Conservative Party,as the representative of the landlord and the bourgeoisie, has been actively defending the position of the traditional grammar schools and maintaining the three-track system of the secondary education The Labour Party,on behalf of the working class,is committedto educational equality and the "Grammar School for all" philosophy, actively promoting the secondary education process towards integration. The evolution of the secondary education is inevitably tinged with politics because of the competitive relationship between the two parties and the different views of the secondary education, which is the feature of the history of the secondary education. This thesis includes three parts: Introduction, text and conclusion. In the introduction part,on the basis of combing the related researches at home and abroad, the significance of the topic selection is expounded, the related concepts are defined and the research methods and ideas of this paper are introduced. In the body part, the first chapter mainly reviews the evolution of the secondary education before the war, including the establishment and development of the secondary education before 1945.The second chapter, based on the analysis of the social, economic and political background of post-war Britain, discusses the measures taken by the ruling party in different periods to rebuild the secondary education, and finally establishes the three-track system of the secondary education. The third chapter analyzes the background of the transformation of the Post War British public secondary education, and then elaborates the process of the transformation of the public secondary education, which can be seen that the main direction of the transformation is from the three-track system to the comprehensive system, this is the secondary education's shift from diversity to integration.Chapter 4 discusses the integration of the secondary education. In promoting the integration of the public secondary education,Labour adopted the means of issuing circulars and enacting laws, and finally completed the integration of the post-war public secondary education by means of educational legislation. The fifth chapter summarizes the evolution of the secondary education after the Second World War.In the post-world War II evolution process, such as with a strong political color, the pursuit of educational justice and education democracy.
