In the era of globalization, the international flow of talents, knowledge and technology is increasing. With the promotion of the power of internationalization of higher education,it is of great significance for Chinese college students to carry out cross-cultural learning through international educational exchanges to cultivate talents with international vision and cross-cultural abilities. In recent years,as the international flow of college students has become more frequent, their demand for international exchange programs offered by colleges has increased.Chinese universities represented by "double first-class" construction universities actively promote international exchanges and cooperation, strive to improve the quality and level of students' international exchange programs, and are at the forefront of promoting higher education internationalization. This thesis takes the construction of first-class universities in China as the research object, explores the performance of undergraduates' demand for international exchange projects, and on this basis, puts forward suggestions for universities to improve the quality and appropriate service support of international exchange projects.significance.First of all, this research examines the research significance, research progress and theoretical basis related to students' internationalization and international exchange projects through literature analysis.Secondly, the questionnaire survey method was used to discuss the needs and performance characteristics of the undergraduates' international exchange programs in the construction of first-class universities. And using quantitative analysis and grounded theory mixed research methods, analyzed the factors that affect the needs of undergraduate international exchange programs. Then,by extracting information from college websites and conducting semi-structured interviews with relevant personnel of colleges and universities, this paper focuses on the analysis of the status quo and performance characteristics of undergraduate international exchange projects in the construction of first-class universities. Finally, based on the two levels of international exchange project college management and project implementation, the current problems in the international exchange project management of colleges and universities are analyzed, and the principles, suggestions, and implementation methods for further improving the level of undergraduate international exchange project support areproposed. The study found that undergraduates in first-class university construction universities generally have a higher demand for international exchange programs. They specifically pay attention to the information content of the selected majors, course content, credit conversion, project duration, grants, and country and region of the project. In addition, language exchange, international ranking of colleges, faculty and scientific research facilities have become increasingly important factors for undergraduates to choose international exchange programs. This study believes that the current comprehensive factors affecting the international communication needs of undergraduates mainly include personal interests and development planning, academic performance,English ability, family economic and cultural conditions, content of international exchange programs, and support for university international exchange programs.Through investigation,it is found that the first-class university construction universities are facing the problems of lack of international communication strategic planning, lack of specialized quality assessment and supervision mechanisms, and shortage of projects in supply of international exchange project management for undergraduates.Course credit conversion, scholarship application and training guidance before cross-border exchange, etc.,are the issues that universities need to pay attention to when implementing international exchange projects. This study points out that an excellent international exchange program should have the basic principles of accessibility, availability and high quality. In order to improve the system of service support for students' international exchange programs, universities should build a multi-departmental coordination system, increase the investment in international exchanges, improve the quality assessment and supervision mechanism, and improve the international exchange scholarship funding system.Strengthening the subsidy for vulnerable groups, narrowing the professional restrictions of the project, improving the complete supporting system of the project, and realizing the diversification of project selection indicators should be the main ways to optimize the service support for international exchange projects of undergraduates in the construction of first-class universities in the future.
