Comparison Between The Ib Course High School Chemistry Textbook And The Chinese High School Pedagogical Chemistry Textbook-Taking "Periodic Table As An Example"

With the development of society and economy and the deepening of globalization,education is showing the trend of “education globalization”.This requires us to learn more advanced teaching concepts and experiences from various countries.The IB program is an international course offered by the United Nations International Baccalaureate Organization(IBO).The IB High School program is considered to have a high level of high school education and is favored by secondary schools in different countries.This article selects the 2008 edition of the chemistry textbook published by person education and the textbook of the Chinese People's Education Edition(including the 2007 edition of the high school people's education textbook(hereinafter referred to as the old people's education textbook),and the 2019 version of the high school people's education textbook(hereinafter referred to as the Newcomer's textbooks))Comparative analysis,found the differences and advantages and disadvantages of the two sets of textbooks,and finally came to enlightenment about the textbooks and teaching.The comparative analysis of textbooks is the premise and key for teachers to obtain good curriculum teaching and achieve ideal teaching goals.This paper mainly uses the literature method,comparative research method and content analysis method to study the subject.The comparative analysis of the two course materials is based on the knowledge of the “elemental periodic table”.The "periodic table of elements" plays a pivotal role in the entire high school chemical and even inorganic chemical systems.This article compares and analyzes the two sets of textbooks in the curriculum layout,pictures,concepts,theories,columns,exercises and other parts.The final conclusion is as follows:(1)In the overall structure and layout of the textbook,the IB curriculum structure is more compact,the chapters are independent of each other,similar to the university chemistry textbooks,and more in line with the requirements of the college preparatory course.In order to meet the needs of multi-level and multi-objective ordinary high school students,the textbook of human education is relatively loose and shallow,so that students can learn progressively.(2)In the comparative analysis of the pictures,it was found that the two sets of textbooks are all colorful textbooks with pictures and texts.However,the IB course does not cover the actual connection between life and chemistry.The pictures of the teaching materials of the people's education are closely integrated with the reality of life.At the same time,PEP textbooks focus on the study of chemical history,which helps students to understand the life of chemists and stimulate students' spirit of innovation and exploration.(3)the comparative analysis of the introduction of the course,it is found that the textbooks of the old and the new people are from Mendeleev's discovery and production of the first periodic table of elements introduced into the course of this chapter,and the IB course is based on the production process of the periodic table of elements,which describes science in detail.Study the course to introduce this lesson.In this part,the textbook of People's Education Edition is slightly monotonous.Attaching importance to the explanation of the history of chemistry and the process of exploring scientific knowledge is an inspiration and a role model for freshman students.Encourage students to have the spirit of continuous exploration and innovation.(4)Comparative analysis in the content of the textbooks found that the IB curriculum materials directly describe the concept of knowledge and theoretical research.In terms of theoretical knowledge,the IB course is better at elaboration of theoretical knowledge,and through the pure explanation of knowledge,students can deepen their memory and mastery of theoretical knowledge.In the textbook of people's education,it is more like to use the chemistry experiment and the analogy of the elemental nature to draw the final theory.The theoretical knowledge is less space.It is a kind of induction method of the first specific phenomenon and then the theoretical system,let the students themselves through experiments and comparisons.Conclusion,through your own thinking to deepen the memory and mastery of knowledge.In terms of the requirements of conceptual knowledge such as “family” and “cycle”,the IB curriculum requires more concise concepts and helps students to remember.(5)When comparing and analyzing the textbook setting columns,it was found that the IB course materials and the Chinese people's education textbooks are rich and diverse.The two sets of textbooks are involved in thinking,experimentation,history of science chemistry,exercises,and knowledge induction.The PEP textbook focuses more on thinking,experimentation,and history of science.In the Knowledge Induction and Sorting column,the IB course runs from the beginning of the chapter to the end of the chapter.The PEP textbook is only reflected at the end of the chapter,slightly inferior.(6)In the comparative analysis of the after-school exercises,both sets of textbooks have been designed with a variety of post-class exercises.In the topic design,IB course materials are related to theoretical knowledge;the PEP textbook focuses on the connection between the actual life problem and the“elemental periodic table”,allowing students to learn chemistry in life and chemistry in life.Know how.At the end of the chapter,the IB course designed the college entrance examination questions about the“periodic table of elements” for nearly 10 years.This is the content that the Chinese version of the textbook is lacking in this module.This is the content that is lacking in this module of the teaching materials of the People's Education of our country.However,according to the current teaching and college entrance examination background in my country,the module does not involve the following three points in the textbook.The first point is that the Chinese chemistry textbook is divided into compulsory and elective modules in order to meet the diverse development needs of students.The second point is that my country's college entrance examination papers are not uniform,divided into national papers,provincial and municipal papers.The third point,according to the requirements of the national unified outline(science)for general college admissions: at the level of knowledge content requirements,its highest level of requirements-comprehensive application.According to this requirement,in the chemistry compulsory part of the college entrance examination paper,the knowledge of the subject is relatively interrelated.The content of the question may involve the content learned later.It is difficult for students to make correct answers based on the new knowledge they have learned.Comparing the real questions of the "Periodic Table of Elements" in the IB textbook,it is found that the content of the real questions only includes the knowledge learned in the current chapter,and is not related to the knowledge learned before and after.Students can complete the practice of college entrance examination based on the current chapter knowledge only.According to the content of comparative analysis,the following enlightenment is made to the compilation of teaching materials and teaching(1)The beginning of the chapter shows the difficulties of this chapter;(2)Attach importance to chemical experiments.Link chemistry theory with experiment;(3)Introduce the practice of chapters corresponding to the real questions of the college entrance examination,let students understand the requirements of the entrance examination,and cultivate their comprehensive ability;(4)Emphasis on the education of chemical history.Learning through the introduction of the periodic table making process,cultivate students' spirit of active exploration.
