The information age promotes the rapid development of distance education,and the double-edged sword of technological development makes the opportunities and challenges of distance learning coexist.This paper takes the characteristics of distance learners as a breakthrough point to find problems and improvement strategies are proposed in order to increase the efficiency of distance learning based on a full understanding of distance learners and their learning process and learning.First,a literature review of distance learning at home and abroad is carried out,and it is pointed out that learner characteristics are the key points to improve the efficiency of distance learning.On this basis,related concepts such as distance learning are defined,the relationship between distance learning and personalized learning is analyzed,and the basic theory of distance learning,self-directed learning theory,behavioral learning theory and social cognitive theory are respectively viewed and demonstrated.The necessity and importance of distance learning have laid a foundation for the discussion and analysis to build a modern distance environment learner model and the relationship between various aspects.Secondly,after combing the theoretical basis of the feature elements of distance learners,Bandura's three-party reciprocal deterministic causal model is selected as the theoretical basis.By using the grounded theory,based on related studies of learner characteristics at home and abroad,the main characteristic factors that affect distance learning are screened out.Combined with domain expert opinions,coding,selection and classification of factors are performed.The three dimensions of psychological characteristics and behavioral characteristics are used to construct a conceptual model of learner characteristics in modern remote environments.Thirdly,based on the conceptual model of learner characteristics in the modern distance environment,an indicator system is designed from three dimensions of distance learners' background characteristics,psychological characteristics andbehavior characteristics,and data collection is performed according to the relevant content of the indicator system.Then,SPSS21.0 is used to process the data by descriptive statistics,correlation,regression and other methods to explore the situation of distance learning,the characteristics of distance learning and the impact of characteristics on academic performance.Finally,the distance learner concept model is modified based on the data processing results,and finally the learner feature model in the modern distance environment is established.Finally,the results from the case are drawn.1)The basic learning situation of learners in the modern distance learning environment is better.However,there is still room for improvement;2)There are Differences in psychological and behavioral characteristics of distance learners with different learning backgrounds;3)There is a correlation between some elements of psychological characteristics and behavioral characteristics of modern distance learners;4)The distance learner's performance is subject to postings(0.084),learning duration(0.062),performance feedback(0.216),Factors such as learning evaluation(0.381),learning expectation(-0.133),and self-efficacy(0.106).Then,according to the research conclusions,from the perspective of stakeholders,the author proposes improved methods and strategies for distance learning for distance learners,distance-teaching teachers,distance course designers,and education and teaching managers.
