A Research On The Influence Of Female Images In Video Games On Users' Willingness Of Continuous Participation

Abstract/Summary:
As a modern form of entertainment and a new media with multiple interactive features,electronic games have strong attraction and influence.As an important component of mainstream games,the image and setting of game characters have a certain influence on users'use and continuous participation.In recent years,with the expansion of the game market,women have gradually become the consumer group of the game,and the image of female characters in the game has gradually become rich and three-dimensional.Therefore,understanding the influence of female images in current games on users'cognition,emotion and continuous participation intention is of great significance for further understanding users' real intention and discovering the factors that attract players to participate for a long time.Meanwhile,it also provides some references for game designers and researchers.Based on the"user","female image"and"continued participation intention"for the target domain,through the method of literature,interview and so on to obtain first-hand information,using the grounded theory method to qualitative research methods,such as data statistics,analysis,explore the female images in the game on the game continue to participate in the will of the influence factors of the user.Through the continuous comparative analysis of the interview data,a model of the influence of female images on the game users'willingness to participate in the game is established.The study finds that the willingness of game users to participate in the game can be divided into three stages:The first stage:through the initial participation intention formed by the cognition of female roles,the female image has a positive influence on the initial participation motivation and intention of users in the cognitive stage.Under the influence of sensory stimulation,sense of manipulation,sense of contrast and social advantage brought by female images,users begin their initial participation in the new game.The second stage:the user has a deeper understanding of the female characters and a willingness to stay or break away emotionally.In the emotional stage,with the deepening of the user's cognition of the game and female images,the user's appreciation,sympathy,affection and other emotional expressions of the characters are triggered,and even a sense of responsibility and belonging are generated.The sense of substitution and experience brought by female images changes users' emotions and generates corresponding motivation and willingness to participate,thus involving users.It is worth noting that if users have negative emotions at this stage,they will be motivated to break away accordingly.The third stage:the intention of continuous participation in the ideation stage.The emotional connection of users to the characters urges them to make continuous efforts to participate in the game out of the immersion experience and the pursuit of the sense of achievement.The stability and maintenance of game users'participation behavior depend on the satisfaction of psychological needs brought by female images in the game.This study proposed the formation of electronic games users continued to participate in the motivation of female images under the influence of evolution model,can help the game developers,designers and researchers understand the impact of female image for electronic user participation willingness,understanding the user will change rule and motivation,thus can design has the playability of the role image and formulated the corresponding incentive strategy,through to the female image related development inspire continued participation behavior of users and extend the life of the game.
