Research On The History Of National Defense Education Of Xiamen University

Xiamen University's national defense education has a long history and unique characteristics,which is an academic subject worthy of study.From the time when Mr.Chen Jiageng was preparing to build Xiamen University,he began to scream"Salvation,and the responsibility of the husband",the people of Xiamen University began a revolutionary journey of exploring the truth and pursuing the light,the national defense education of Xiamen University began to sprout.After 97 years of Spring and Autumn,the national defense education of Xiamen University has evolved from maturity to development,and has formed its own characteristics.It is a pity that in the voluminous work of the history of Xiamen University,there is no special article on the historical research of national defense education of Xiamen University.In this regard,this study attempts to explore the historical development of national defense education of Xiamen University,the national defense education of Xiamen University for nearly one hundred years will be divided into five stages:the first stage,the germination period of private Xiamen University's national defense education(from April 1921 to June 1937);the second stage,the development period of war baptism(from July 1937 to September 1949);the third stage,special mission promotion period(from October 1949 to July 1953);the fourth stage,a variety of consolidation period(from August 1953 to January 1979);the fifth stage,the maturity of institutional norms(from February 1979 to December 2018);each stage is carefully examined from the international and domestic environment,the content and form of national defense education,and the achievements and effects of national defense education.On the basis of comprehensively reviewing the historical development of national defense education of Xiamen University,further summarize the main characteristics of national defense education of Xiamen University,firstly,the glorious tradition of patriotism;secondly,distinctive geographical features;thirdly,strong normative and professional.On the basis of summarizing the historical development characteristics of national defense education of Xiamen University,the author puts forward the following points to further promote the construction and development of national defense education of Xiamen University.Firstly,adhere to and carry forward the glorious tradition of patriotism,use the history of Xiamen University and red cultural resources,carry out national defense education vigorously;secondly,enriching the content and form of national defense education activities,allowing students to receive national defense education in a variety of activities;thirdly,carefully study the new”Ordinary colleges and universities military syllabus"and correctly grasp the military curriculum positioning,the content and form of military theory courses and military training should keep pace with the times.
