PBL(problem based learning)and unit teaching design are the key contents of d eveloping students' core quality in chemistry subject advocated by the eighth basic ed ucation curriculum reform.How to explore the combination of the two and implement the unit teaching design under the PBL teaching concept in regular chemistry classro om teaching is the core issue of this research.This research focuses on "what is the specific theory of unit teaching design under PBL teaching concept? How can these theories be applied to the unit teaching d esign of sulfur and its compounds? How effective is it?" We will address three specifi c issues.Through sorting out the research status of PBL and unit teaching design at ho me and abroad,this paper discusses the relevant theories of unit teaching design under PBL teaching concept,defines the connotation of unit teaching design under PBL tea ching concept,and summarizes the specific elements and links.On this basis,the unit teaching design of "sulfur and its compounds",a compulsory course in ordinary senio r high school,was selected for PBL teaching concept,and the implementation of the t eaching design was carried out in a class of senior one of a county high school in ding xi city,gansu province.After the implementation,self-designed test questions and int erview Outlines were used to evaluate and interview students,and then the implement ation effect of "sulfur and its compounds" unit teaching design under the PBL teachin g concept was objectively evaluated.Studies show that "sulfur and its compounds" unit teaching under PBL teaching c oncept is helpful for students to master the properties and applications of sulfur and its compounds,improve students' ability to predict the properties of strange substances a nd solve practical problems,and promote the construction of their views on elements,classification and transformation.Therefore,this study draws the following conclusio ns: unit teaching under the PBL teaching concept can effectively promote the develop ment of students' subject core quality.
