In recent years,teachers of primary schools start to attach importance to adding some mathematical culture to their class arrangement.At the same time,more and more teachers attempt to introduce history of mathematics into their teaching and hold a positive attitude towards the value of history of mathematics in education.However,there are not enough references about historical materials of mathematics used in classes,the way of integrating them and mature class examples under the perspective of HPM in the teaching of primary school math.With the development of curriculum reform,Department of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission suggests focusing on unit-based teaching design.The text chooses to make research on the unit Area Calculation of Planar Graphs from geometrical part of the 5th grade of primary schools,including three teaching contents such as ‘the area of parallelograms,area of triangles,area of trapezoids'.Students will learn the calculation of abstract concepts in space geometry for the first time in this unit and form the space concepts with the help of planar graphs,which plays a significant role in the geometry of primary schools.With regard to the contents in the unit,the focus was used to be on calculation,skills and results but the emphasis on culture,thoughts and processes was insufficient in the previous teaching practice.Therefore,through referring to historical materials and selecting appropriate ones,the writer expects to form a unit-based and integrated teaching design under the perspective of HPM.The research made through three class examples can solve the problems above and provides a reference for teaching the contents of this unit.The research questions are:1.What is the influence of blending mathematical history in the unit teaching of the area of planar graghs on the apprehension and applying ability of students?2.What is the impact of blending mathematical history in the unit teaching of the area of planar graghs on students' attitude towards learning math?Through the three class examples,the writer does some statistical analysis based on questionnaires and finds out the positive effect of blending mathematical history with the unit teaching of the area of planar graghs on the study of students,i.e.1.Learning knowledge: the teaching of blending mathematical history into units makes students have further understanding of Out-in Complementary Principle and improve the ability of solving questions about the area.2.Study attitude: It can boost the confidence of students in studying mathematics,make students recognize the use of mathematics and strengthen motives of learning mathematics.What's more,it can ease the anxiety of studying mathematicsBased on this research,the writer puts forward some ideas and suggestions for unit teaching of mathematics at primary school level and HPM study,hoping it to be helpful for blending mathematical history in the unit teaching design of primary schools.
