Value is the foundation and core of social work definition. The current status of China's domestic social work development is the general neglect of the value attribute of social wor k,which is fundamentally not conducive to the localization and specialization of social work.Professional social work originating from the West is based on "individualism" as its core e thical values. The ethical values of the "individualism" orientation correspond to the Chinese "collectivism".This paper will comprehensively examine and analyze the historical origins, social foundations and practical characteristics of the social work of the two different values of the East and the West, and use the case analysis method to study the application of "indivi dualistic ethical values" in China. From the research,it analyzes the applicability of the "indi vidualist ethical values" of Western social work in China, and then proposes feasible suggest ions for the development of ethical values of Chinese local society. The study finds that the "individualist ethical values" of Western social work are compatible with the political, cultural, economic and social structures of the West, and the values of Western society tend to be "individualism." In the historical context of the development of social work in the West,"individualism" has always been the core value to guide social work practice. The social work practice characteristics of Western "individualism" orientation are as follows: active "seeking-help relationship" and practice are biased towards personal treatment.China's "collectivist orientation" of local social work is compatible with China's political, cultural, economic and social structure, but in history China lacks professional social work.China's current social work is still an "administrative and semi-professional" social work.In practice, the "seeking-help relationship" is passive, lacking attention to the "ethical value of social work" and is affected by "administrative indicators".Larger.The author uses the "humanistic treatment model" to apply the "individualistic ethical value" to the case practice and achieved good service results. In the course of the research,it was found that the "individualistic ethical values" in social work are not completely opposite to the "collectivist ethical values",and the two can be integrated. The fit of "individual ethical values" in China is influenced by two factors: first, the administrative dependence of local social work will affect the value nature of professional social work;second,"home culture" and "individual The opposition of "ism" will lead to the passiveness of the "seeking-help relationship" of social work. However, the "ethical value of individualism" is compatible with the contemporary social values of China and the "individual needs" of people. Therefore, the author believes that the localization of ethical values of social work in C hina should firstly emphasize the “ethical value of social work” in education and practice.Se condly,it should promote the integration and innovation of ethical value-s of social work bet ween China and the West.
