Early childhood education has a great impact on personal development and social development.A large number of studies have proved that high-quality education can affect the children’s cognitive and non-cognitive skills, and lay a good foundation for children’s life-long development. At the same time,it can also reduce poverty and solve social problems to a certain extent.Accreditation of early childhood education aims to provide a better educational environment for children by reviewing and monitoring the quality of all aspects of early education institutions. At the same time,it can also give parents the information about the quality of early programs and help parents choose the program.Nowadays,China has begun to pay attention to the high quality of early education to provide fair and quality education for every child. In order to keep the high quality of early childhood education, the government began to supervise the teaching and environment of kindergartens.Since we are still at the stage of establishing an early education quality assessment system,it is possible to provide advanced experience for China by properly drawing on foreign excellent experience.National Association for the Education of Young Children(NAEYC)is a authoritative certification system in the United States. This study summarizes the experience of NAEYC early learning program accreditation standards and assessment items and its implementation to provide useful reference for the construction of China’s early education quality system. This article is divided into five parts:The first part is the presentation of the problem, mainly introduces the background, proposes research questions, defines the core concepts, and introduces the research methods. At the same time, the existing research is sorted out through literature review. The second part introduces the theoretical basis and standard content of NAEYC’s standards and assessment items. The standards are based on the theories proposed by psychologists such as Piaget,Dewey,Erikson,Vygotsky, and Gardner. The content of NAEYC’s early education quality standards covers four areas, ten aspects. They are all childcentered and value the standard process quality. Moreover, the standard content is comprehensive and systematic. The third part is the rules and links of accreditation’s implementation. The assessors and the program manager need to follow a series of principles at the same time. The principles includes the principle of objectivity, the principle of initiative, the principle of comprehension, and the principle of development. The accreditation is divided into four parts, namely enroll and selfstudy, apply and self-assessment,candidate for site visit, and maintain accreditation. The fourth part summarizes the experience in NAEYC’s early learning program accreditation.First of all, experience includes respect and communicable of the accreditation concepts, comprehensive and specific accreditation content, rigorous and fair accreditation process, rich and diverse accreditation support and scientific and effective regulatory measures.Second, the downside is that the accreditation process is lengthy, expensive, and the feedback lacks detail. The fifth part illustrates the status of early childhood education supervision in China and the enlightenment of NAEYC’s early learning program.By summarizing the problems in our supervision, combined with the advantages of NAEYC’s accreditation,we have extracted the experience that can be used for reference in China and the inadequacies that need to be avoided.
