The new round of chemistry curriculum reform advocates that teaching should start from the development of students and society and teachers should use diversified teaching methods focusing on scientific inquiry in the teaching process, and pay attention to the stimulation of students' interest, the mastery of learning methods and the cultivation of students' ability. The teaching mode of problem-solving combines the process of inquiry learning and group cooperation, which conforms to the teaching concept of the new curriculum reform.Metal elements and their compounds is an important part of high school chemistry,on which there are few comprehensive and systematic studies. Therefore,it is of great significance to carry out continuous and systematic research on metal elements and their compounds by means of problem-solving teaching mode. This study focuses on the application of problem-solving teaching mode in chemistry teaching and explores the positive effect of this mode on the quality of chemistry teaching and the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality.First of all,it carries out a theoretical research on the teaching mode of problem-solving,summarizes and analyzes the current situation and achievements of academic research at home and abroad through reading relevant literatures, which lays a theoretical foundation for the application of this mode in chemistry teaching.Second,it selects experimental subjects with teaching experiment method to understand the current situation of teaching and learning in senior grade one chemistry classes by means of interview, questionnaire survey, etc.Combining the teaching procedures of problem-solving teaching mode,it selects all the subjects in chapter 3 of PEP edition(chemistry 1)for teaching case design and teaching practice.Furthermore,it analyzes and evaluates the practical effect through the monthly examination results, questionnaire survey, classroom observation and other data of the experimental subjects. The results show that applying the teaching mode of problem-solving to the classroom teaching of metal elements and their compounds plays a positive role in improving the classroom atmosphere and students' learninginterest. At the same time, this teaching mode also has certain effect on improving students' chemistry scores, cultivating students' problem awareness, cooperative spirit, practical ability,problem-solving ability and other aspects, which proves that applying the problem-solving teaching mode to chemistry teaching in senior high school is of practical effect.
