Purpose: In modern society,there are all kinds of strange temptations,which often make students more willing to leave their study for a while to obtain temporary happiness.Based on the investigation of the status quo of academic delay of gratification of senior pupils,this study developed a set of targeted group guidance programs.Participants with lower academic delay of gratification were selected for group guidance intervention and the effect of group guidance was discussed.The results of the analysis provide some suggestions for elementary school students to improve the level of academic delay of gratification.This study holds that it is of value and significance to improve pupils' academic delay of gratification through group psychological guidance.Methods: First,410 senior pupils(fifth and sixth grade pupils,the same below)from a school in Changsha were surveyed with the Academic Delayed Satisfaction Questionnaire to investigate the status quo of academic delayed gratification among senior pupils.Then,according to the theory of group guidance and the concept of academic delay of gratification,a group guidance program related to the level of academic delay of gratification was formulated.Thirty students with lower level of academic delay of gratification were selected as subjectsand divided into experimental group and control group.Before the experiment,there was no significant difference in academic delay of gratification between the two groups.The experimental group received group guidance once a week to improve the level of academic delay of gratification.The control group did not accept any treatment.Four weeks later,the students of the two groups were given a mid-test,and eight weeks later,the academic delay satisfaction level of the two groups was tested to determine the effectiveness of the group assistance program.After two months,the follow-up test was conducted to investigate the continuity of group guidance effect.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in the scores of academic delay of gratification among senior pupils in gender,origin and only-child situation,but girls,urban students and non-only-child pupils showed better overall performance.(2)The total score of academic delay of gratification level and the scores of each dimension of the experimental group members who participated in academic delay of gratification group guidance were significantly improved in the mid-test.(3)The group guidance program developed in this study can improve the academic delay of gratification level of higher grade pupils with lower academic delay of gratification level.CONCLUSION: The group psychological guidance designed in this study can improve the level of academic delay of gratification of seniorpupils to a certain extent,and the effect of group guidance has a sustained effect.And there is reason to believe that the application of group guidance activities has a good promotion value in the process of improving the level of academic delay of gratification of senior pupils.
