Doctoral students are reserve leaders in academic careers and candidates for future university teachers.Universities,especially research-based universities,are the first choice for academic employment of doctoral students,offer far fewer academic positions than the number of doctoral students' employment.The quantitative assessment system based on the publication of the paper is widely used in the process of selecting and hiring new teachers.It is an inevitable requirement for doctoral students to enter into the academia.Therefore,this study uses the doctoral student group papers as an entry point to explore the academic career preparation of doctoral students.This study takes the doctoral students,post-doctoral fellows,and teachers of HUniversity,a research-based university,as the main research object.With the interview method,it has obtained first-hand information on the specific scientific research processes of different doctoral students by conducting in-depth interviews with twenty Ph.D.candidates or Ph.D.graduates covering multiple disciplines in order to obtain the first-hand information for different Ph.D.students to prepare their academic papers for publication.Then it explores how the opinions of doctoral students are formed and what factors influence them.When the paper is published as an academic culture,how the individual doctoral students conduct academic publication and what individual action measures they take;and how the individual reflects on and summarizes their own action measures.The study finds that in the fierce competition in the academic labor market,the publication of the paper became a “entry fee” for doctoral students to conduct academic fields,and played a key role in the admission of academic professions.There are clear and vague,strong and weak differences in the concept of the publication of doctoral students under the influence of various factors.Different from the individual's views on academic publishing,doctoral student express different behaviors in the paper because of the differences in the publication goals,action strategies,and academic conditions of the journal.In the whole process of the publication of the paper,the individual will reflect on the technical level on how to publish more and the higher the quality.At the same time,the ethical reflection of value rationality,the doctoral students generally agree with the publication of the paper under the assessment system,but for the paper There are two choice tendencies in the choice of quantity and quality of scientific research.The principle of priority in the publication of papers becomes the mainstream concept,and the principle of quality of paper publication is another way of thinking provided by doctoral students.Finally,the study further explores and reflects on the behavior of doctoral thesis publication from three aspects: the relationship between the number of publications and the quality of the papers,the lack of academic career preparation teaching,and the relationship between doctoral dissertations and academic publications,in order to reflect on relevant aspects.Provide reference for improving the relevance and shortcomings of current doctoral education.
