Research On The Relationship Between Young Korean Married Couples In The Modern Age

The influence of Confucianism in the society,the traditional Korean husband and wife relationship shows that men have the power over women.The husband has the absolute power to make a decision over all matters in the family.On the other hand,the wife,don‘t have the right to make the decision,they only have to bear all the housework.As time goes by,in the Korean contemporary youth era,the characteristics of the relationship between husband and wife have been changed.The social development requires the inheritance and continuation of youth.In order to encourage the healthy and harmonious of young people,encourage the family unity,reduce the divorce rate,improve the quality of marriage life,and establish the real equality,freedom and harmonious in the relationship.To understand the changes,it is necessary to study Korean contemporary young couples.In this study,35 married Korean couples were interviewed to understand their decision-making and communication status in domestic work.The study found that the modern husband and wife relationship emphasises on the equality which based on the respect for each other and independence.Moreover,the study also found that the relationship between husband and wife is more like modern democracy and allow the couple to have more freedom.Through the study,it was found that there are many differences between men's and women's in the previous generation and modern generation.The role for living life and working life of the modern generation is not as clear as before,which was caused by the more sharing the attitude and listening to each other opinion than the traditional Korean couple.However,In Korean society still has the mindset that the male has the power over women and the wife's duty is to undertake the housework and take care of every member in the family only.Although lots of men accepted that their wife or every woman can be work in the company like them,the unfair sharing of domestic labour still exists.Fundamentally speaking,the distinctive role of the men in the family still exists.This is mainly influenced by the mindset of the previous generation and social atmosphere.At the same time,although young couples can express their feelings more actively,they also have the problem of not being able to control their negative emotions.The modern Korean couple,the existence or non-existence of marriage is not as important as before.For them,divorce is just a new life choice,not an unbearable thing.In addition,nowdays,there have lots of young couples in South Korea who gave up to have their child due to the financial burden,which is the problem that needs to be solved urgently in society.It is not only a national and social task but also requires favourable guidance and guidance from society.In addition,young couples also need emotional restraint and understanding of each other's position.
