The Negative Effects Of Foreign Players On Offensive Side Of Local Players In CBA

Mikhail · Safenkov from Uzbekistan was the first one who came to Chinese Basketball Association as a foreign player.From then on,CBA foreign player import policy has been used for 23 years.As the commercialized development progression of CBA,we cultivated many good players who had played so well in NBA,such as YaoMing,WangZhizhi,BaTeer,YiJianlian etc.Especially before the retirement of YaoMing,Chinese Men’s basketball was a powerful dominant team in Asia.And the highest ranking around the world was NO.9.But during these years,Chinese national basketball team didn’t play well both in Asia and around the world.In the ranking of world men’s basketball published by the FIBA in 2018,China was NO.29.This enormous retrogression of our team illustrates that the speed of development of men’s basketball in China was not as well as the world basketball powers.There are many reasons for this issue.And the one of the main reasons is the importation and use of foreign players.The reason why CBA imported foreign player into China at the beginning was to balance the capacity of all the teams in CBA.This will make the games more intense and will give local players a better circumstance for them to upgrade and develop their skills.But most of the foreign players have great talent and more skillful.As they put the most of their focus into offence,they usually think little of defence.Meantime,the most of the teams chose to let local players to guard foreign players of other teams.To do that,our local player need higher standard of defence skills.So in the defensive side,our local player has been better than before.But in the offensive side,they werebecoming increasingly dependent on foreign players,especially when they are on the court simultaneously.To analyze all of the players in CBA between season 2005-2006 to season2017-2018,This research applied Literature data method,mathematical statistics method,video analysis method,expert interview method and logical analysis method Act.Mostly focuses on the analysis of the negative effects of foreign players on the offensive end of local players.The conclusions are as follows:1.When foreign players put more concentration into offence,more negative effects on offensive side of local players will occur.And there will be more positive effects on offensive side of local players when foreign players focus on defence more.2.The current foreign player policy is more about balancing the gap between all of the teams in CBA and improving the league’s attractiveness,while ignoring the long-term development of all the clubs and the cultivation of the local players.3.The number of shots and shooting percentage of the offensive end of foreign players are increasing.This directly leads to a decrease in the number of shots by local players,and gradually forms a situation in which foreign players dominate the game.4.Foreign players are getting more assists on the offensive end.This indirectly indicates that the time of the possession of the ball of foreign players are increasing,and meanwhile the opportunities of touching ball for local players are decreasing.5.The utilization rate of mid-range jump shot by local players has been greatly reduced.This is one of the sign that show the ways of attack the rim of our local players were getting simple.6.The rhythm of the team’s attack is obviously accelerated and the offence is constantly simplified.7.Local players’ offensive initiative is declining.As foreign players increasingly dominate the game,coaches and the local players are increasingly relying on them.And the local players were getting gradually negative in the offensive side.
