Reversals often happen in competitive sports, especially in badminton competitions. In the 2016 and 2018 Thomas Cup competition, the Chinese men's doubles players were defeated twice by the South Korean team and the Indonesian team in succession when they score one,and finally failed to win the game.In the Thomas Cup final in 2018,Chinese players, despite a bad start and missing the first game, seized every chance to win the next two games in a row and finally won the championship. In recent years, the reverse situation frequently occurs in the badminton men's doubles matches. It is of great significance to study this phenomenon for the sports teams to analyze the causes of gain and loss and to formulate the technical and tactical plans in the competitions. Therefore, this paper takes the six reversals in the quarter-finals of 29 th and 30 th Thomas Cup as the research object, and clarifies the causes of the reversals from the perspective of technical analysis.By using video observation, documentary, logical analysis and mathematical statistics, this paper makes a statistical analysis of six matches in which reversals occur in the quarter-finals of 29 th and 30 th Thomas Cup,describes the occurrence of reversals, studies the scoring process in the matches, statistically analyzes the difference of winning teams before and after reversals in the link of serving and receiving and the technical comparison of both players in the front, middle and back courts between the winning and losing games and explores the causes of the occurrence of reversals. The results of the study are as follows:(1)Whether the winning or losing game of the winning team or the losing team, the number of scores decreases with the increase of the scoring grade, and both teams all have the ability of scoring in bulk, but obviously the winning team's ability of scoring in bulk is more prominent. In the process of competition, the players from both sides score alternately, which is a common phenomenon.(2)The average score of the losing team in winning and losing games is more than that of the winning team in winning and losing games.By studying the average score in the winning game,it is found that the high score is mainly because scoring in bulk appears many times.(3)Six groups of players more choose front court before and after reversal, and concentrate on area 1 and 5.But after reversal, there are more groups choosing area 5 and no groups choose area 2.They occasionally change the serve route and serve furtively into the back court to disturb the opponent's attack rhythm.Among them,Danish players use more in the change of the back court.(4)From the distribution of the front, middle and back courts, the proportion of the overall court of receiving and serving placement of the winning team in the reversal phenomenon is in the order of mid-court,front court and back court from large to small. In terms of the receiving area,it mostly concentrates on areas 2 and 5,and the difference between winning and losing games is not obvious;the biggest difference is in area 6,which strengthens the control of players towards mid-court in winning games.(5)In the winning and losing games of the winning team, the proportion of using the technique of pick, high clear, drop shot, kill and hook is very small, and the proportion of using push-ball technique is the highest, followed by net ball technique. Both players in each round emphasize the initiative of the ball right and actively seize the initiative.Comparing the technical use in winning and losing games, there is the greatest difference between the technique of net ball and push-ball.The utilization rate of net ball technique in losing games is 10.04% higher than that in winning games, while the utilization rate of push-ball technique in winning games is 19.26% higher than that in losing games.(6)In the front court, there are differences in the proportion of technical use before and after reversal. Before reversal, the proportion of technical use varies from high to low, showing as pick, push, net, save and hook, while after reversal, showing as pick, push, save, net and hook. The winning team strengthens the control of the ball in the winning game, actively grabs the net and lower the hit point of the ball.As a whole, the players' technical use in winning and losing games does not change significantly, which indicates that they have a certain stability in the use of front-court technique.(7)The technique of drive plays an important role in the middle court, and it is obviously improved in the winning game.In the winning game, the proportion of the use of drive technique in the winning and the losing games were 41.74% and 35.18% respectively. In addition, the proportion of the use of pick ball in the winning and the losing games were 23.43% and 36.76% respectively, which shows that the players greatly reduced the use of pick ball in the winning games.(8)Players' hitting technique is relatively stable in the back court, killing technique is favored by athletes, and whether in the winning or the losing games, the technique used by players in the competition from high to low is kill, high drop shot, high clear, drive ball, low drop shot, backhand lob,and backhand drop shot.
