China's basic education has entered a significant stage with the aim at improving the quality of education.With the in-depth reform of the basic education,the principal's leadership is widely noted by more and more relevant policy,which has expected that the principal will give full play to its important role in instructional leadership and administrative leadership to improve the quality of education through the principal's practical activities.This paper constructs panel data through the China Education Panel Survey(CEPS)base period data and the second phase of the data.The Fixed Effect estimation method is used to eliminate the time-invariant variables,such as personal characteristics of the principals and school situation,and control the time-variant variables,such as principal's teaching experience,working experience,the working experience of the school,and the school development goals,as well as the school's comprehensive environmental characteristics and the student's family background,the principal's leadership behavior is divided into instructional leadership behavior and administrative leadership behavior according to the principal duties of the principal.This paper discusses the influence of the principal's instructional leadership behavior and administrative leadership behavior on the instructional performance of Chinese,math and English subjects,and the mechanism of their interaction.The results are summarized as follows,First of all,the principal's instructional leadership behavior has a significant impact on job satisfaction of math and English teacher,as well as English instructional performance.Secondly,the principal's administrative behavior has a significant impact on the job satisfaction of Chinese,math and English teachers as well as the performance of mathematics and English.In addition to having a significant positive impact on the job satisfaction of math teachers,principal administrative leadership behavior shows statistically negative effects on other variables.Thirdly,the mechanism of the principal's administrative leadership behavior on the performance of Chinese is "principal leadership behavior ?job satisfaction ?instuctional performance".The mechanism of the impact of administrative leadership behavior on the Performance of Math and English and the mechanism of the leadership behavior of principals'impact on English instructional performance coexist at the same time of "principal leadership behavior?job satisfaction?instructional performance"and"principal leadership behavior? job satisfaction + instructional performance".Finally,in order to improve the school's instructional performance and to ensure and improve the quality of school education,this paper provides suggestions on how the principal to adjust leadership behavior and improve the principal's training and evaluation system.
