In recent years, with the development of economy,China's educational cause has made historic progress in all aspects.Great achievements have been made in the popularization of compulsory education, rapid development of higher education and continuous improvement of the overall level of education input have ensured the overall educational opportunities of Chinese residents. However, with the rapid expansion of the scale of education and the continuous improvement of the overall level of education, the phenomenon of unfair education still exists.Due to the widening income gap,China's social structure is constantly divided, and the social stratification is increasingly intensified.Different classes enjoy different educational resources and enrollment opportunities. The emergence of various "second generation" in recent years reflects the important influence of family background on one's education level.Studies have shown that children's education level is highly correlated with that of their parents:when parents have a good education, their children are more likely to have a better education level. If there is serious inequality in education,it will hinder the reasonable flow between different social strata, and undermine educational equity and social equity.Nowadays, under the social reality of the increasingly prominent educational inequality between rural and urban areas and the increasingly narrow channels for the upward mobility of rural children,it is of certain value to study the urban-rural differences in the transmission of education between generations in China through the latest available authoritative data.First of all,on the basis of studying, analyzing and sorting out relevant literatures, this study sorts out and summarizes the current research status of intergenerational transmission of education, introduces relevant theories and defines core concepts, thus laying the theoretical foundation of this study.Secondly, using the latest CGSS survey data, this paper makes an empirical analysis of the differences between urban and rural areas in the transmission of education between generations. The data analysis mainly includes two parts. The first part is the basic descriptive statistical analysis, which conducts descriptive statistics from the perspectives of gender, age and urban and rural education level of parents and children, and obtains the basic status quo of intergenerational transmission of education in China. The second part according to the respondents to live and the household registration, the sample type is divided into urban and rural areas,non-agricultural population and agricultural registered permanent residence,by building a generational transition matrix and the computation flow indicators, using OLS,Oprobit and Logit regression model, examine the differences between urban and rural areas, education in our country the intergenerational transfer draws the following conclusion:the parents of the children education level is the education level of the main influencing factors.Age,gender, ethnicity and other factors also have an impact on children's education level. At age 14,parents' occupation type and father's political status have a relatively weak impact. The education level of men is higher than that of women, and the education level of urban and non-agricultural residents is higher than that of rural and agricultural residents.Compared with those born in the 1970s,those born in the 1980s and 1990s have more access to higher education.Intergenerational mobility in rural areas is relatively weak. Finally, according to the conclusion of the empirical analysis, this paper analyzes the causes of the inequality of urban and rural education, and on this basis tries to put forward some countermeasures and Suggestions to promote the equality of education.
