A Survey Research Of Parents’ And Grandparents’ Beliefs And Behaviors On School Readiness Of 3-6 Years Old Children

Readiness for school is an important topic in the field of preschool education.Good school readiness can not only help children adapt to primary school life,but also play a vital role in the development of young children.Therefore,readiness for school is the most important link for preschool children.In the process of readiness for school,the family is an important factor in children’s school readiness.With the rapid development of the society,parents are busy with work,and grandparents become the main force of the inter-generational education.Therefore,parents and grandparents for preschool children’s readiness play a key role.With methods of questionnaires and interview studies,the study of object is parents and grandparents of three kindergartens in Tianjin.After investigation and analysis,the results are as follows:1.The age of parents is an important factor affecting their concept of school readiness;the age class of children is the main factor affecting the parents’ readiness behavior;and the parents’ concept and behavior about school readiness are related.2.The age class of children is the main factor affecting the concept of grandparents’ school readiness;the gender of children and the educational level of grandparents are important factors affecting their behavior for school readiness;the concept and behavior of grandparents about school readiness are significantly related.3.There is a difference in the concept of school readiness between parents of and grandparents,and the concept of grandparents who have no readiness for school is significantly higher than parents.4.There is a very significant difference in the readiness between the parents and grandparents.Parents have significantly higher for children in all aspects of readiness than grandparents.Combining the expression of parents and grandparents,this study draws the following conclusions:the concept of school readiness for parents and grandparents is influenced by many factors,such as their educational level,age,and the age class of children,and the readiness for parents are better than grandparents.Therefore,grandparents and parents should constantly update their educational concepts,change their educational strategies,and cooperate with kindergartens and primary schools,in order to help children successfully complete their school readiness.
