The situation on the football field is complicated and varied. The players must pay attention to the position of teammates, opponents and balls during the game, and constantly update and analyze the opponent's strategic information to make appropriate tactical decisions. This ability to track multiple moving objects simultaneously is a prerequisite for high-level football players to respond quickly and appropriately during the game(Williams,2006).Therefore,it is necessary to examine the attention of football players in dynamic scenes. This study examined the performance of football players in 2D plane and 3D virtual reality dynamic tracking tasks from two dimensions: tracking accuracy and tracking speed thresholds.Experiment 1 manipulated different types of 2D plane dynamic tracking tasks, and combined the probe-dot detection paradigm to investigate the tracking performance and spatial attentional distribution of football players in different dynamic tracking tasks and the differences with ordinary university students. It was found that the tracking accuracy and probe-dot detection performance of football players and ordinary university students in different 2D dynamic tracking tasks show cross-population consistency. From the results of tracking accuracy, both football players and ordinary university students showed that the tracking accuracy of the location MIT was the highest, the classic MOT was second, and the identity MIT was the worst. This results illustrated that distinctiveness in identities information improved tracking performance of location MIT.From the probe-dot detection performance, football players and ordinary university students pay the same attention distribution trend among different dynamic tracking tasks, that was,pay more attention to the background of the screen and the targets, and pay less attention to the distractors. It showed that there was an effect of distractor suppression between different dynamic tracking tasks.Because Experiment 1 did not find the difference in tracking performance and attention distribution between football players and ordinary university students in 2D tracking tasks,in order to eliminate the insensitivity of the dependent variable indicators and the lack of depth perception in the 2D tracking task, the tracking performance of football players decreased.Experiment 2 used the tracking speed thresholds as the dependent variable, and combined the virtual reality technology to further compare the difference between the 2D plane and 3D virtual reality dynamic tracking tasks of football players. It was found that the tracking speed of 3D dynamic tracking tasks was faster than that of 2D tracking tasks. It showed that the 3D dynamic tracking task effectively improves the efficiency of dynamic visual tracking. In addition, the tracking speed of football players was faster than that of ordinary college students, and this advantage was more prominent in 3D dynamic visual tracking performance. It showed that football players had an advantage in dynamic visual tracking tasks, and their visual tracking in 3D dynamic tracking tasks was more efficient.Conclusion:(1)Compared with the traditional 2D planes dynamic tracking task, the dynamic tracking task in 3D virtual reality scene effectively improved the tracking performance.(2)Football players were more efficient in visual tracking in 3D virtual reality dynamic tracking tasks, which can effectively measure the dynamic visual attention of football players. The longer their professional sports training, the better the tracking performance of 3D dynamic tracking tasks.(3)Compared with the tracking accuracy, the tracking speed thresholds can be used as a dependent variable to measure the dynamic visual attention of football players.
