Study On The Role Dilemma Of Medical Social Workers In The Hospice

Compared with Western countries that have established a more complete end of life care service system,namely hospice system,and formed a large number of theoretical and practical results,the development of hospice in China is lagging behind.Although medical social workers have always played an important role in hospice,they still face a lot of role dilemmas.This article uses the participatory observation and interview methods to study the role predicament of medical social workers in hospice during the period of F Hospice.Through analyzing the roles of medical social workers in the hospice,the status quo of the role playing and the specific service cases,we can find that the medical social workers face the four major role dilemmas in hospice.They are as follows:There is the problem of fuzzy overlapping of roles in the role of mentor;the role of team coordinators is frequent;the influence of community influencers is limited;the role distance is obvious;the role of the resource liaison person fails.The causes of these difficulties are the low professional socialization of medical social workers,the unclear role of the hospice team,the lack of social support,the security system is imperfect and lack of death education and other reasons.Therefore,multiple parties need to work together to improve the professional knowledge of medical social workers in hospice,clarify the roles and functions of team members,broaden the service sector to obtain social support,improve the social security system,and strengthen death education and publicity,so as to protect the lives of patients and families living in poverty at an advanced stage,To create a good hospice environment.
