The Construction Of Environmental Data Platform Of Non-Profit Organization And Analysis Of Its Business Model

At present,China's public participation in environmental governance is subject to the two major problems:the high cost of public access to environmental information and the obstructed channels for public participation.In the Internet era,with the application of mobile Internet,cloud computing,big data and other technologies in the domain of environment,various environmental data platforms emerge at the right moment,providing possibilities for solving these two problems.However,in the existing practice in China,the environmental data platforms operated by government,scientific research institutions and enterprises are not effective in solving these two problems.In comparison,the environmental data platform operated by nonprofit organizations could play a unique role in environmental governance.Noticing the problems of current practices,this study discusses the obj ectives and elements of the construction of environmental data platform of nonprofit organizations and its business model and marketing strategies.In this study,documentary analysis method,questionnaire method and case analysis method are used.In the questionnaire part,the factors affecting public participation in environmental governance are investigated to determine the objectives of the platform construction.In the case analysis part,the most representative nonprofit environmental data platform in China,“the blue map”environmental data platform,is selected for case study in order to provide useful inspiration for solving the common problems of nonprofit organization environmental data platforms.This study proposes a general theoretical framework in order to provide some theoretical advice for the extant practices and future nonprofits environmental data platforms,thereby promoting public participation in environmental governance,ultimately enhancing the environmental multi-governance.The theoretical framework proposed in this study includes:(1)the objectives,system architecture and functional modules of the environmental data platform of nonprofit organizations;(2)possible business model of the environmental data platform of nonprofit organizations;(3)various marketing strategies that may be used in the operation and management process of the environmental data platform of nonprofit organizations.The innovation of this paper is reflected in the fact that at present,the research on the construction of environmental data platform of government,scientific research institution and enterprises has been relatively detailed,however,to the best of my knowledge,there is no special focus on the construction of environmental data platform of nonprofit organizations,therefore,the theoretical framework proposed in this study might fill the theoretical vacancy in this field with some theoretical and practical significance.
