Self-focused attention is an individual’s awareness of the internal information associated with self.It has two modes of adaptability and inadaptability.Adaptive self-focused attention,i.e.mindful self-focused attention,can promote the development of individual positive psychology,while inappropriate self-focused attention,i.e.ruminative self-focused attention,is the killer of mental health.Studies on well-being have found that mindful self-focused attention and ruminative self-focused attention have positive and negative effects on subjective well-being,and prosocial behavior can promote subjective well-being.However,there are few studies on the relationship between self-focused attention and prosocial behavior,and the role of prosocial behavior between them.Therefore,this paper focuses on this topic,combs the literature of mindful self-focused attention,ruminative self-focused attention,prosocial behavior and subjective well-being,and puts forward the research hypothesis model.Taking the employees(N=428)and students(N=182)as the research objects,this paper uses the method of questionnaire survey to explore the relationship between two kinds of self-focused and subjective well-being,and the mediating role of prosocial behavior in it,the research variables were measured by Cognitive Affective Mindfulness Scale-Revised,Ruminative Response Scale,Prosocial Tendencies Measure and Index of Well-Being Scale.Using SPSS 17.0 and AMOS 24.0 software,reliability and validity analysis,descriptive statistical analysis,variance analysis,correlation analysis,regression analysis and Structural Equation Model Path Analysis were carried out on the sample data.The conclusions are as follows:(1)Individual mindful self-focused attention has a positive impact on subjective well-being,while ruminative self-focused attention has a negative impact on subjective well-being;(2)Individual mindful self-focused attention has a positive impact on prosocial behavior,while ruminative self-focused attention has a negative impact on prosocial behavior;(3)Individual prosocial behavior has a positive impact on subjective well-being;(4)Prosocial behavior has a mediating effect between two kinds of self-focused attention and subjective well-being.The main theoretical contributions of this study are:(1)the positive relationship between individual mindful self-focused attention and prosocial behavior,the negative relationship between ruminative self-focused attention and prosocial behavior;(2)the mediating role of prosocial behavior between two kinds of self-focused attention and subjective well-being.Individuals can improve their subjective well-being by enhancing mindfulness and prosocial behavior.Enterprises can provide mindfulness training to improve the mindfulness level of employees,there by improving their subjective well-being and job performance.Future research should focus on localization,and on this basis continue to explore the mechanism between self-focused attention and subjective well-being,and between self-focused attention and prosocial behavior. |
