A Study Of The Influence Of Postmodernism On The Political Identity Of Contemporary College Students

Along with China's reform and opening up,the postmodernism thought originated in the West has sprung up and developed in China.Postmodernism thought is a cultural trend of thought that criticizes and rethinks the drawbacks and limitations of modernity in the western society in 1960 s as a result of the extreme development of modern technology and rationality in western society,and the outbreak of the second World War,which brought serious negative influence and destruction to the human society and the natural environment.The main characteristics of post modernism are anti-centralism,anti-authority and anti-integration.The spread and development of Postmodernism has imperceptibly influenced the the present Chinese college students' thought as well as their political identifications.However,as a cultural trend of thought,modernism has its reason of being existence inevitably,and the innovativeness,inclusiveness and ecology advocated by postmodernism will bring about the positive impact to the political identity of college students in the aspects of innovating the channels for college students' political participation and political identification,strengthening the college students' political inclusion,and promoting the college students' political identification.At the same time,its "overcorrection" to the modernity makes it go to anarchism,relativism,skepticism,nihilism and pragmatism.These negative ideas have contributed to the desalination of some college students' political consciousness and anarchism,which leads to the lack of ideals and beliefs and the loss of morality to part of the college students.It misleads the college students to question the legitimacy of the Communist Party of China,undermines the college students' confidence in following the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.It intensifies the college students' political pursuit of utilitarianism and vulgarization,and thus weakening their political identification.Based on the situation,I have analyzed the reasons for the negative impact of postmodernism on the political identity of college students: the reform and opening up policies,economic and information globalization have all accelerated its spreading progress;the characteristics of its own popularity and fragmentation are more easily to be accepted by college students;college students are not yet mature in both physiological and psychology and are weak in the ability of distinguishing right from wrong;the effectiveness of ideological education in college ideological and political teaching is not effective;apart from the above,the corruption and idleness from government officials and CPC members make the government social credibility reduced.In order to cope with the negative influence to the college students' political identification brought by the postmodernism,in view of the above reasons,I put forward the following countermeasures: to give full play to the leading role of the socialist core values;to establish and improve the legal system of standardized network management and operation,to strengthen the college students' self-education to their political identification in an comprehensive way.To improve the effectiveness of political identification education in college ideological and political teaching area,and to strengthen the political construction,to enhance the government's social credibility comprehensively.
