The undergraduate tutorial system originated in England and was introduced into American Liberal Arts Colleges in the first half of the 20th century.American liberal arts college,which is committed to undergraduate education,not only inherits the teaching system of British tutorial,but also constructs a structured and hierarchical tutorial system.In recent years,Colleges and universities have also tried to implement the undergraduate tutorial system,which is a new form of training innovative talents and an important measure to improve the quality of undergraduate education.In view of this,by using the methods of literature analysis,comparative study and interview,the undergraduate tutorial system of liberal arts colleges are constructed.Specifically,the contents of the research include four parts as follows:Firstly,the development and changes of undergraduate tutorial system for liberal arts colleges in the United States are studied from the viewpoint of development histories.For example,changes in roles and functions of advisors in different historical stages are analyzed.Secondly,according to the policy analysis,the the type of advisor,selection and job responsibilities are studied.That is,"the rules and regulations hanging on the wall".Thirdly,interviewing with 18 students and profrssores from liberal arts colleges,the relationship construction between advisor and advisee,the implementation route of the institution are summarized.Fourthly,based on the researches,the enforcement characteristics of the undergraduate tutorial systems are concluded,including adhering to the implementation philosophy of liberal arts education;Adhering to the results of the "whole person" training;focusing on the guidance process of combining various types of paths such as "consultation,""guided," and "cooperative".We can draw lessons from this institution:pay attention to the combination of general education and specialization,and cultivate all-round innovative talents;emphasize the combination of vertical path and horizontal path selection to set up the guidance relationship;focus on the advising process of combining various implementation paths and advise the activities of life.
