Geometric progression is an important part of the progression in Mathematics.It is a special function taught after arithmetic progression.Geometric progression contains rich mathematical methods of thinking,which is a good way to cultivate students' several competences,such as observation,analysis,induction,conjecture and so on.Geometric progression is not only widely applied in many aspects of life and production,but also the tie to connect elementary mathematics with advanced mathematics.It contributes to arouse students' interest in learning mathematics,but also to help to improve their mathematical literacy,which will lay a solid foundation for their lifelong learning.But the author found that students often make mistakes in learning this section.Therefore,the author consults related researches on geometric progression and applies various methods,such as questionnaires,interviews and tests.This paper mainly focuses on the overall study situation of middle vocational school students,the frequent mistakes,students'understanding on the mistakes and the error type and causes.This paper is intended to find out the study situation of geometric progression in middle vocational school,and to help the students raise the awareness of mistake proofing,improve their error correcting capability,enhance their self-confidence and improve their interest on learning mathematics.Research results are shown below:(1)the general learning experience:? Students like to solve basic questions;?Students like question situation teaching;? Their learning objectives are not clear;?Geometric progression is very useful,but the learning content is difficult and error-prone.(2)the reasons summarized by students why secondary vocational students always make mistakes in geometric progression learning:? Students don't pay enough attention to their mistakes;? They are accustomed to depending on others too much;? They don't have effective ways to deal with their mistakes.(3)the reasons summarized by teachers why secondary vocational students always make mistakes in geometric progression learning:? Secondary vocational students are weak in basic knowledge;? Their learning methods are not appropriate;? The arrangement of math class is unreasonable;? Supporting exercise are not designed in accordance with teaching material in difficulty.(4)the reasons why secondary vocational students always make mistakes in geometric progression learning:intellectual and non-intellectual factorsIntellectual factors are mainly reflected in:? misunderstanding of the concept;?misuse of formula;? misunderstanding of the question;? logic error;?calculation error;? lack of reflection.Non-intellectual factors are mainly reflected in:? lack of learning motivation;?weak in learning will;? poor learning habits;? low self-efficacy.In the end,on the basis of the conclusion of the study,the author puts forward the corresponding teaching strategies and learning strategies according to the error types and reasons,as well as the requirements of the curriculum standards of the mathematics teaching in secondary vocational schools.
