In the context of the new globalization,international education exchanges and cooperation have become increasingly frequent and in-depth.Along with China’s further reform and opening up and the construction of the “One Belt and One Road” strategy,a large number of international students from all over the world come to China to learn Chinese and understand Chinese traditional culture.As the pivot of the “New Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”,Jiangsu Province is at the forefront of China in terms of economy,culture,science and technology,and attracts international students from many international universities and colleges.Raising the intercultural communicative competence of overseas students from Jiangsu universities,it will strengthen their understanding of Chinese culture,promote the mutual learning of human civilization,and advance China’s international exchange and cooperation in higher education,which has important practical significance.This study mainly focuses on the learning strategy and takes the universities in Jiangsu Province as an example to analyze the cultivation of intercultural communication competence of international students.Based on the theory of intercultural communication competence and learning strategies,the dissertation builds a model for the analysis of learning strategies in intercultural communication competence for foreign students studying in Jiangsu Province.This study uses questionnaire surveys,classroom observations,and interviews to delve into several different universities in Jiangsu Province to discuss the current status and characteristics of the use of learning strategies for improving intercultural communication competence,and analyze the main factors affecting the application of learning strategies that affect their ability to improve intercultural communication.Based on this,the relevant suggestions for optimizing the learning strategies of international students in Jiangsu universities are proposed.It is found that the frequency of the use of learning strategies used by international students in Jiangsu universities are ranked in descending order of memory strategy,metacognitive strategy,social strategy,affective strategy,cognitive strategy,and compensation strategy.Among them,indirect strategies are generally used more often than direct strategies.The social strategy of knowledge and the compensation strategy of skills are the lowest,and the application of metacognitive strategies is better.In addition,the different countries and the level of learning Chinese have a significant impact on their use of learning strategies.The study believes that the intercultural communication competence of international students in Jiangsu universities is also affected by factors such as intercultural psychological adaptability,teaching abilities,and the multicultural environment of universities.Based on the above analysis,the study gives some suggestions for the optimization of the use of learning strategies for improving intercultural communication competence.Firstly,it requires the international students to carry out self-paced adjustment;secondly,to strengthen the awareness of teachers in cultivating international students’ learning strategies;and finally to establish and improve the international students’ management team,and at the same time to endow international students with more autonomy and create a rich international school atmosphere.
