Table tennis is a national ballgame in China,a long-lasting type of sport which is barely seen in both China and around the globe.Those table tennis players with gold medals in the Olympic Game,world table tennis championships,table tennis World Cup and other world competitions have made brilliant achievements for the country and brought a great number of honors to us.However,after retirement,the issue of re-employment of those top athletes is somewhat lack of concern.The paper here uses references,expert interviews and mathematical statistics to summarize the successful experience,to provide some useful information to try to deal with current tough situations,to find out the existing problems in the career planning process,to provide operational measures for retirement planning after the career and therefore to make some contribution to the sustainable development of this event.Through the research,the following conclusions are drawn:Generally,our high-level table tennis players are not educated well.They win the medals at a very young age and the their best competitive state maintain in a relatively short period.In most cases they need to find a job themselves,which is very hard because without a degree you can hardly stand out in the job market,although it would be much easier to get a decent one for those championship players.The successful career planning experience of high level table tennis players are as follows: Firstly,train harder and practice harder to win as much games as possible to accumulate enough capitals for re-employment.Secondly,provide necessary educational courses for our athletes to make them capable for future social lives.Besides,authorities related to sports should build an athlete-friendly system for their future development.And lastly,some job trainings would be great for the players to gain professional skills after retirement.The problems in the process of career planning for the high level table tennis players are as follows: In the first place,the policy of retiring resettlement is imperfect and the policies are not carried out as they should be.Secondly,the players themselves are seeking for quick success and instant benefits and lack of long-term plans,which makes them less prepared when they are facing retirement.In addition,the social recognition of the table tennis is low and the social support system is weak.The countermeasures are as follows: Perfecting the retirement policy.Making efforts to implement the existing policies thoroughly;establishing the long-term development plan for the players' lifelong benefits;enhancing our training methods by using advanced techniques;strengthening their mental heath to make them well prepared for retirement;raising social awareness for athletes;and forming a social support system;promoting the table tennis socialization and broadening the channels of re-employment.
