Prosocial behavior and ego depletion have always been hot topics in the direction of social psychology.Previous studies have yielded fruitful results. In order to study the influence of social identity and ego depletion on prosocial behavior, this paper validates and explores the relationship between the three factors through two experiments.Experiment 1 was designed for single-factor participants. The independent variable was ego depletion, and the dependent variable was prosocial behavior. The ego depletion dual task paradigm was used to complete the control of ego depletion, and then the prosocial behavioral propensity measurement scale was applied to the participants..It was found that sego depletion has a negative effect on prosocial behavior. From the subscales, there were significant differences between the two groups, especially in the emotional, altruistic, anonymity, openness, and emergency subscales.Experiment 2 was designed for two-factor test subjects. The independent variables were social identification level(high identification vs low identification)and ego depletion(high depletion vs.low depletion). The participants were socially grouped and socially compared(feedback virtual test.Grades),manipulated the social identity of the participants, and measured the prosocial behavioral propensity scales for subjects with different degrees of ego depletion.Different levels of social recognition have a significant influence on prosocial behavior.Different levels of ego depletion have a significant impact on prosocial behavior, and social identity and ego depletion affect the score of the prosocial behavior scale. In Experiment 2,the effect of ego depletion on each subscale was significant, that is,the higher the degree of ego depletion, the more significant the inhibition of various types of prosocial behavioral tendencies. The level of social recognition only had significant influence on the emotional, altruistic, anonymity, and openness scales, and it had no significant effect on compliance and emergency prosocial behavior. In the altruism scale, there are interactions between social identity and ego depletion, which together affect the scale of prosocial behavior. The study draws the following conclusions:Conclusion 1:Ego depletion will reduce prosocial behavior. Conclusion 2:Raising the level of social recognition will influence prosocial behavior. Conclusion 3:At the level of low social identity, increasing ego depletion levels will reduce prosocial behavior, but in the case of high social acceptance, changes in ego depletion levels will not affect prosocial behavior. Conclusion 4:In the case of low ego depletion, raising social identification will increase prosocial behavior, but in the case of high ego depletion, changes in social identification will not affect prosocial behavior. Conclusion 5:Social identity has a relatively limited impact on prosocial behavior and can only work if the degree of ego depletion is low. However, when ego depletion reaches a certain degree, the regulatory role of social identity disappears.
