Research On The Effect Of Technological Advancement On The Employment Of China

Both theoretical studies and empirical studies could not tell us what effect would technological advancements generate on the employment.And there is no study concerning the macro paths through which the technological advancements will affect the employment.As the Chinese economy entering the New Normal,the staggering economic growth will put pressure on the employment growth.Meanwhile,with the advent of new technology,it will generate impact on the labor market,which will put the government in a dilemma,that how to balance the need of advancing technology and the need of securing jobs.This is the most urgent problem to be solved.Clarifying the mechanism of the effect of the technological advancements on the employment is of great importance for Chinese economy in the new era,which will not only guarantee the realization of employment of higher quality and quantity which proclaimed by 19 th CPC National Congress,but also promote the establishment of an innovation-oriented country and the major breakthrough of original work.This thesis applied panel intermediary effect model to investigate the effect generated by technological advancements through several main macro paths,and we draw three main conclusions.Firstly,inflation,output,overall investment are the active paths for technological advancements to boost the growth of the overall employment,and the effect decrease in turn,while consumption and wage are the active paths for technological advancements to impede the growth of the overall employment,and the effect decrease in turn.Secondly,inflation,output,consumption,overall investment are the active paths for technological advancements to boost the growth of the urban employment,and the effect decrease in turn,while wage is the active path for technological advancements to impede the growth of the urban employment.Thirdly,individual investment is the active path for technological advancements to boost the growth of the overall employment and the urban employment,while state investment is the active path for technological advancements to impede the growth of the overall employment and the urban employment.As for real estate investment,it is the active path for technological advancements to impede the growth of the urban employment,while the active path for technological advancements to boost the growth of overall employment.
