Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, our government has attached great importance to education. With the release of the nine-year compulsory education policy, the shortage of teachers and the formal teachers’ leave, the number of substitute teachers has been increasing, whose survival status has also attracted the attention of some experts and scholars.Based on the research of the new generational substitute teachers in the current academic circles, scholars mainly carry on their researches of the survival status of the new generation teachers from three perspectives, namely, professional identity,cost-benefit and policy management. However, most research just analysis the living status on the surface, and the deeper researches of reasons have been found to be insufficient, and they lack the supporting of true feelings and the factors that have been combined with the teacher’s own factors in the course of the study. Therefore, based on interviews with several substitute teachers and first-hand interviews, this paper classifies the survival difficulties involved in the conversation of substitute teachers into three categories:low income, embarrassing status and unstable work. Then, from the perspective of gender, with the combination of the interview data, this research further analysis of the survival dilemma and attribute the reason to the influence of the patriarchal and paternity rights, and the difficulty in employment. Finally, the discuss and reflect are carried on the gender perspective. The conclusion of this study is that the problem of the survival state of the new generational substitute teachers seems to be caused by the factors such as high fluidity, low salary and embarrassed identity, but on a deeper level, the new generation of substitute teachers consists mostly of female, whose career choices are often caused by social factors such as gender attachment and gender bias, making the negative ecological status an inevitable result. From a sociological point of view, the plight of its survival cannot be eradicated, but can only be alleviated to a certain extent. |
