Research Of Social Participation In University Governance In The We-media Era

In the management structure of modern universities,the relationship between universities and social forces has rich connotations and involves in many fields.Improving the external governance structure is an important topic in the modernization research of university governance capability,and also a crucial symbol of the maturity and perfection of a modern university system.The arrival of information age has revolutionized the traditional mode of information dissemination.The platform of we-media and software have broken the asymmetric pattern of information circulation and enhanced the efficiency of information dissemination,greatly changed the traditional discourse relations and discourse level,highlighted the main position of social individual and group in the external governance structure.Interactive information flow provides new development chances while bringing challenges to the complexity of governance problems originally involved in social participation.The we-media era provides new inspiration and new ideas for the construction of the collective practice paradigm of the Chinese and foreign social forces irn universities,and gives new era characteristics to the social participation in the modernization of university governance.Although social participation in university governance is involved in China currently,there are still many shortcomings and further improvement is needed.Social participation in university governance is confronted with abundant obstacles including lack of discourse power,unsound participation system,voluntary failure and behavior anomie,which are caused by the internal reasons including the confinement of traditional culture and spirit deficiency of contemporary universities and external reasons like the absence of supervision mechanism and the backwardness of information interactive platform.Taking America,the modern power of higher education,as an example,some efficient experience and inspirations are put forward including introducing its mature and perfect operation system of social participation in university governance,elaborating and analyzing the practice situation of American social participation,safeguarding the public’s right to know and the right to supervise,guiding intermediary organizations to play an active role,encouraging social laymen to attend decision-making.Based on the realistic problems of social participation in university governance in the we-media era,this paper puts forward options from the four dimensions,that is,renewing concept,cultivating subjects,perfecting mechanism and cultivating modern university culture.First,straighten out the relationship between universities and society,change traditional concepts and actively cater for the needs of public participation.Second,attach importance to the development of social groups and organizations such as educational intermediary organizations,foundations and alumni.Third,improve the system of consultation participation,information sharing and integration of production,teaching and research.Last,cultivate the spirit of modern university with open cooperation.
