| BackgroundAdaptation refers to the process of constructing good psychology between individual and environment, and a harmonious, coordinated, suitable and suitable state, which is one of the indexes to evaluate health status. The adaptability of universities students is a kind of comprehensive ability which must be possessed by universities students in order to achieve harmony with their environment in school and social life, and it can reflect the comprehensive quality of a person as a whole.Higher adaptability can effectively alleviate the problems of depression, anxiety, emotional tension, insomnia and so on.With the expansion of enrollment in public universities and the rapid development of private universities.it is of great practical significance to study the level of adaptation between public and private universities students.ObjectiveThe purpose of this paper is to study the differences in the level of adaptation between public and private universities students, and to investigate the demographic characteristics, family situation, economic status, personal living habits of universities students according to the basic situation of universities students. This paper analyzes the factors affecting universities students’ social adaptability and its influencing mechanism, and puts forward corresponding strategies. To improve the ability of college students to adapt to the society,to provide reference for better adaptation to society,to further promote the healthy development of higher education in China, and to enhance the quality and level of college students.Subjects and Methods1.SubjectsBy using stratified cluster sampling method, four universities in Jinan City,Shandong Province were selected. The students included four different major from freshmen to senior students.According to their major and grade, they were divided into four majors:liberal arts, science, engineering and medical.A class is selected for each grade in each major.A total of 2860 questionnaires were distributed and 2035 valid questionnaires were collected. The effective rate was 71.15%.2.MethodsSPSS 19.0 and Amos 23.0 are used for data analysis and structural equation model construction.A descriptive analysis of the basic characteristics of universities students is carried out.The scores of each scale and their constituent ratios are calculated and the qualitative data are described by relative numbers(sex, age, profession, place of origin, school nature, etc).Used the mean standard deviation(x±s)to describe the scale and the scores of each factor.T test is used for comparison of numerical variable data, analysis of variance is used for multi-group comparison, and Bonferroni method and Dunnett T3 method are used for multiple comparisons according to whether or not homogeneity of variance is satisfied.Using structural equation modeling to analyze the influencing factors of universities students’ adaptation and establish the path.Results1.The overall low adaptation detection rate of respondents was 27.22%.The detection rate of low adaptation in private universities was 18.44%higher than that in public universities, and the rate of low adaptation of urban students was 3.91%higher than that of rural students. The detection rate in the lower grade was higher than that in the higher grade, the lowest rate was in medical major, and the rate in boys was higher than that in girls. The detection rate of adaptation of single parent universities students was 39.93%.The detection rate of low adaptation of universities students without left-behind experience and studied ideal major and took part in community activities was lower.Of all the factors in the adaptation scale, the highest rate of low adaptation was interpersonal adaptability, which was 34.35%.2.Comparison of the scores of the adaptation scale between public and private universities:The scores of students in public universities are higher than those in private universities, and the scores of female students in public universities are higher than those of boys in terms of the total scores of adaptation of students of different genders. However, there was no significant difference between male and female students in private universities(P>0.05),and the total scores of male and female students in private universities were lower than those in public universities.Compared with different grades, public universities have the highest total scores for adaptation in their freshmen, while private universities have the highest total scores for their senior year.Compared with the same grade, public universities have higher scores for freshmen and sophomores than private universities.Junior and senior students scored lower than private universities. The total scores of adaptation of private and public universities students show that the adaptation level of the students with close relationship with their parents is the highest, and the private universities students are lower than those of the public university students. The students with family monthly income of 2000-4000yuan were the lowest in the total scores of adaptation of public and private universities, and the total scores of adaptation of students with different degree of familiarity between public universities and parents were higher than those of private universities, and the students with close relationship with their parents had the highest scores. The scores of public universities majors were higher than that of private universities except engineering.3.Through repeated demonstration of the initial structural equation model of the influencing factors of universities students’ adaptation, the final model includes three latent variables:family factor, school factor and demographic factor. The direct and indirect effects of each latent variable on universities students’ adaptation are as follows:family factors have not only a direct path to adaptation, but also an indirect path, which are family factors→adaptation, family factor→school factor→adaptation;demography has one direct path and two indirect paths:demographic factors→adaptation, demographic factors→family factors→adaptation, demographic factors→school factors→adaptation;the school factor has only one important direct effect on adaptation:school factor→adaptation.Conclusion1.The social adaptation of universities students is generally on the middle level, the detection rate of low adaptability in private universities is close to twice that of public universities, and the scores of each dimension are lower than those of public universities, the lowest scores were in interpersonal adaptability and learning burden adaptability.Improving the adaptability of college students requires the joint efforts of schools, society, families and individuals.2.The adaptability of college students is the result of a combination of family factors, demographic factors, and school factors, and there is interaction among the influencing factors, which can not only directly affect the level of adaptation of university students, but also indirectly affect the level of adaptation of university students as an intermediate variable of other factors.Suggestions1.At the individual level, students should pay more attention to cultivating their ability of psychological adjustment, recognizing themselves correctly, evaluating themselves and accepting themselves, facing up to the gap between themselves and others, cultivating healthy lifestyle and regular living habits, and improving their physical quality.Seeking social support actively, participating in community activities and social practice to improve their physical and mental quality, professional ability and social interaction ability.2.At the family level, parents should pay attention to cultivating their children’s healthy personality, healthy psychological quality and positive coping styles;create a harmonious and democratic family atmosphere, strengthen parent-child communication, and provide their children with adequate love and support;in single-parent or left-behind families, parents and schools should pay more attention to their students’ mental health, discover and correct their unhealthy tendencies in time.3.At the school level, universities should pay attention to create a good campus culture environment, support social practice and the development of student associations, through modern media networks, such as Weibo,Wei Xin and so on,regularly promote mental health related knowledge;counselors and teachers give support and help to the difficulties encountered by students, private universities should improve their management methods, improve teaching quality, regularly conduct targeted group psychological counseling, and conduct psychological defense mechanism lectures. To establish a new type of mental health education mechanism for private universities. |
