The Research Of Family Resilience Under The View Of Social Network

Nowadays,all kinds of uncertain risk is everywhere due to the economy and society are rapidly changing.People exposed to the risk society are under pressures from all sides,these pressures are universal,periodic and unexpected.As the center of the Chinese traditional culture,social structure and an important survival environment,family is in the forefront of risk,suffering multiple pressures.Stress is normalized in the process of family life cycle,which can be motivation or obstruction of an family.It is the key how family to treat and deal with stress,the ability or the process to cope with stress is called"family resilience".There are trait theory and process theory in academic research on family resilience:the trait theory research thinks family resilience as a characteristics from the perspective of psychology and social work;process theory pays attention to the problem itself,and thinks family resilience as a dynamic process,and devotes to the analysis of the process.This article takes the view of process theory,which thinks family resilience as a dynamic process,a process of testing relationships and a means of connecting relationships.It can prompt interpersonal relationship maintained and enhanced in adversity or pressure.The dynamic process research of family resilience mainly can be divided into the phase theory and system theory,phase theory is according to the phase change process dividing the process of family resilience,system theory thinks there are three key process:family belief systes,organization mode and communication process.Although process theory thinks family resilience as a dynamic process,it devotes to internal resilience research of nuclear family,few scholars extend any other families related to the nuclear family;it thinks family resilience as a kind of relationship resilience,a process of testing relationship,but only take social relationships as a factor influencing family resilience,few scholars devote much discussion to the mechanism of social relationships on the family resilience;although some scholars study family resilience from the perspective of family life cycle,stopping at the descriptive observation,there is no in-depth analysis of family resilience process in the process of family life cycle.This paper argues that the family resilience is a dynamic change process of testing relationships,an family cope with adversity to achieve development by its own resources or the resources embedded in social networks in this process,whether can family successfully achieve development depends on the social networks and resources they can use.Social network theory thinks that the society is a mutual crisscross network system,social members get resources according to their needs to cope with difficulties in this system.Social networks influence people's social behavior,and people have access to resources from the social networks.Family relationships are constantly changing in the process of family life cycle,and the family interact with the external environment constantly.Based on this,the author puts forward the analysis framework of this study individual embeds in social networks,and restricted by social networks;resources embeds in social networks,and social networks is the carrier of resources;except their own resources,people can obtain resources only through direct or indirect social networks;Facing all kinds of adversities,the social networks and resources are changing,and the "force" against adversity that family use is changing in family life cycle process.This thesis hopes to answer how could the dynamic change of family resilience in the process of family life cycle through this analysis framework.The family life cycle is divided into four stages:nesting period,full nest period,leave the nest and empty nest to present the family dynamic change process of family resilience in this study.Nesting period refers to the married couple having the first child,although family will meet pressure in this stage,the general will be a steady state,so the article will not explain family resilience of this stage.Full nest period is a period from the first child borning to the last child boming,as the birth of their children,families will encounter a series of pressure in full nest period stage,facing of these pressures,families obtain material,emotional,and other resources rely on emotional relationships.In this phase,family members form a powerful cohesion by emotional relationships,all family members get together to face adversity in order to promote the development of family.Leave the nest period is the period from the first children marrying and leaving home to the last child leaving home,and this period is divided into two forms:one is"leave the nest not the community",namely the new family separates from native family only in form,but also living in the same region community,and they still rely on emotional network forming cohesion against adversity.The other is "leave the nest in fact",which new families separate with their native family and leave their local community.In this process,although emotional networks are also play a role,mainly composed of acquaintances or friends interests relationships at work.So in this form of leave the nest,families get resources depending on the interest relationships when suffering difficulties.In the period of leave the nest,families in the adversity overcome the difficulties by family internal cohesion and driving force of external environment provided.Empty nest refers to all children leaving home,and the old man lives alone,in this stage,which is mainly rely on the emotional network obtaining resources,on the one hand,empty nesters cope with life of empty nest through forming collaboration or cooperation forces with other empty-nest families in the community,on the other hand,governments also provide some support helping them to spend their twilight years.Family resilience presents a dynamic change process in family life cycle.In this process,the social networks people can use are constantly changing when facing stress,and family get different resources from the various network,thus causing the"force" are different that families cope with adversity.Social networks influence the family resilience,it is a rational choice through the network to get resources to overcome adversity for the family.
