A Study On The Construction Of Mothers' Role In Troubled Families

In 2015,the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18 th CPC Central Committee set up the goal of "poverty alleviation for the rural poor under the current standards of China in 2020,and all the poor counties will take off their “poor” hats to solve the regional overall poverty.Today,with the coming of 2020,the goal of eliminating absolute poverty in an all-round way has been basically achieved.However,the phenomenon of relative poverty is still widespread,which has also become the main obstacle for Chinese residents to go to a well-off society in an all-round way.To this end,the party and the state continue to launch a series of Poverty Alleviation Policies,and at the same time,they have enhance the assistance to troubled families,in order to achieve "on the road to poverty alleviation,no one is left behind."In order to achieve this goal,relevant research is also in full swing.However,unfortunately,most of the existing studies are based on community or family,and the internal operation mechanism of family is regarded as "black box".In other words,the operation mode within the family has been ignored in the process of poverty alleviation.This leads to the lack of research on all members of the family,especially the core member of "mother".This is because previous studies on the role of mother or motherhood are nested in the context of the middle class.Meanwhile,little focus on the troubled family motherhood.The difference between them is that mothers in troubled families should not only shoulder the burden of raising their children under the condition of insufficient social resources,but also take care of other family members,such as the elderly and patients.They are the most toilsome members in troubled families,and they need to be concerned.In this study,with the help of the current pilot project of comprehensive social work services in Shanghai-"bridging project",which is implemented with the community as the driving force,the author uses observation,semi-structured interview and literature analysis to deeply understand the plight of mothers in the streets of A District.Combined with the theory of life course and social role,the paper introduces the general life course of mothers in troubled families,the tension and dilemma of the generation of the role of mother,and the factors that hinder the generation of the role of mother,in order to outline the adaptation process of the role of mothers in troubled families.In the first part,according to the qualitative data,the author combs the similar problems in the process of the birth of the troubled family mother.It can be divided into three stages: childhood,growth and upbringing.Most mothers in childhood are under the influence of resource scarcity and poverty,and the limited social resources have laid a foreshadowing for their future misfortunes.In the process of growing up,they have to face all kinds of difficulties in life alone and make their own way out.Due to the fact below,Their marriage has become their few choice.Finally,they will experience all kinds of difficulties in the process of giving birth to children,which shaped the practice form of motherhood.Here,author tries to answer the question of " troubled families-how to generate" in the life of mother.The second chapter is divided into two parts.First,it briefly describes the basic stages of the process of motherhood generation,which are preparation period,adjustment period and adaptation period.Each stage faces certain tasks and problems to be overcome,but there is no clear boundary between stages.Then it classifies and describes the tension that affects the generation of mother's role.The first is the tension between the old and new ideas.Most of the interviewees are 30-50 years old.The differences between times and regions make them unable to use the "free-range" parenting strategy adopted by their mothers in before.Facing the changes of the times,they feel at a loss.The second confliction is the tension between independence and dependence.Mothers in troubled families depend heavily on others,especially their grandparents.In this case,how to deal with the involvement of grandparents in parental care and how to properly deal with the relationship with grandparents are the problems mothers have to face next.Thirdly,here comes the tension between the limited resources of practice and the unlimited needs of ideal parent position.Finally,it is the tension between different training strategies.In this process,the author finds that the role of mother in a troubled family is a dynamic equilibrium generated in the process of exploration,exploration and even compromise,and the norms and behavior patterns of rights and obligations that change with the requirements of schools,families,communities and so on.Next,the author discusses the factors that hinder the formation of mothers' role in troubled families,which are limited capability,high expectation of mothers' function,unbalanced support network and expensive taxes on mothers' careers.Limited capability refers to the innate deficiency of mothers in difficult situations in the process of fulfilling their roles.High expectation of mothers' function means that as time goes,the public's higher and higher requirements for the role of mothers are beyond the capacity of mothers.The unbalanced support network emphasizes the imbalance between the institutional support network and the non-institutional support network and explore the real needs of mothers.The expensive taxes on mothers' careers are a concentrated summary of the disadvantages that mothers experience when they participate in market labor.In order to promote the shaping of the role of mothers,help them out of all kinds of difficulties in the generation,relieve the anxiety in the process of role adaptation.,there are three suggestion to consider.First and foremost,the government can give the grass-roots level some discretion,deepen the understanding of the families in trouble,so that the poverty alleviation policy can truly cover every family in trouble.Secondly,the society should strengthen the publicity and shaping of the image of mothers,so that all walks of life can realize that mothers are a very important role for the society,family,children and women themselves,playing a tremendous role in the family,and forming a good atmosphere of respect for mothers from the whole social level.At the same time,we should also encourage the participation of various social forces,and help mothers to establish the correct role concept by providing training,psychological counseling,and building a communication platform.Thirdly,employers in the market should also recognize the weak position of mothers,understand the difficulties in their lives,bravely shoulder social responsibilities,protect the rights and interests of workers,and ease the confliction in the role of mothers.Finally,the research introduces the main conclusions,future research prospects and the shortcomings of this study.First of all,all kinds of reasons limit the practical ability of the role of the troubled family mother.The final practice is different from their ideal,but gradually generated in the process of exploration and compromise.Secondly,the development of the times has increased the demand for motherhood.In this period,the old ideal motherhood has gradually disintegrated,while the new ideal motherhood admitted by the public has not yet been established.Finally,there are many reasons for the difficulties in the role-playing of mothers in troubled families,which need the joint efforts of all sectors of society to help them get rid of the difficulties.
