Research On Reconstructing Police Authority From The Perspective Of Political Identity

As an important tool of the people’s democratic dictatorship,the police shoulder the social responsibility and historical mission of maintaining social stability and protecting the rights and interests of the people.In recent years,with the increasing complexity of the public security situation,"violent assaults on the police" and "insults and abuses" have frequently occurred to the police and damage their reputation,and police authority has been severely damaged.Therefore,it is urgent to reconstructe police authority.Police authority is the influence that the police have convinced the public in the course of exercising their powers.This kind of influence that is unified by the coercive force of the outside and the convincing power of the people.Based on the history,legitimacy and effectiveness of police authority,this article attempts to divide police authority into police political authority,law enforcement authority,system authority and image authority,and then analyze police authority in a deeper level.At present,the research on the reconstructing of police authority is mainly focused on the level of national legal protection and law enforcement norms.This article attempts to cut into the research from the perspective of public political identity,which has enriched the relevant theories of police authority to a certain extent,and is also for police affairs.Practice provides a theoretical reference.The full text includes the following sections:The first part is the introduction.It mainly elaborates on the background and significance of topic selection,political identity and police authority’s domestic and foreign studies,research methods and innovations.The second part is a basic overview.On the one hand,the concept,characteristics and main components of police authority are summarized.On the other hand,the connotation,resources,value and formation process of political identity are explained,and the formation of political identity mainly comes from ideological resources,performance resources and institutional resources.Based on this,the relationship between political identity and police authority reconstructing is analyzed: the public’s identity of police power is the direct source for police authority reconstructing,and police authority reconstructing is the expected result of people’s recognition of police power.The third part explains the status quo.Some typical cases and representative data are cited to discuss the current weakening of police authority.The main reasons are the violent attacks on police,the damage of law enforcement prestige on the scene,and the spread of negative public opinion involving police.This is not only a threat to the credibility of police law enforcement,but also a severance of police-civilian relations,but also a damage to a harmonious society.The fourth part is the cause analysis.This mainly includes the lack of public recognition of police concept,police law enforcement performance,police system and police image.The fifth part is path exploration.Put forward the basic path to reconstructe police authority,which mainly includes: Upholding the modern police concept,advancing the standardization of law enforcement,optimizing internal and external systems,and grasping the path of police public opinion discourse,in order to reconstructe police political authority,law enforcement authority,and system authority and image authority.
