A Study On The Influence Of Economic Performance Perception On Political Trust

The research on the formation mechanism of political trust mainly includes two theories,namely the theory of institutional generation and the theory of cultural generation.Institutional generative theorists attribute the formation of political trust to the governance and institutional performance of the government,while cultural generative theorists attribute the formation of political trust to the accumulation of values formed over a long period of time.Economic performance is the important institutional factors influencing political trust,its content mainly includes the subjective and objective two dimensions,perception(subjective)to economic performance and economic performance of government economic management,as an individual level of subjective evaluation,has been paid great attention in domestic and foreign scholars.However,most of the related studies explored people’s political trust from a single macro or micro perspective,lacking comprehensive analysis at both macro and micro levels.Previous studies have shown that economic performance perception has a positive effect on political trust.At present,China is facing the important period of strategic opportunities,into the "new normal" of economic development,slower speed and better quality,due to the circumstances of economic development level,the current our country public perception level of political trust and economic performance influence degree of political trust worthy.On the basis of reviewing a large number of literatures and combining the research status at home and abroad,this study puts forward two hypotheses about the relationship between economic performance and political trust :(1)macroeconomic performance perception has a positive effect on political trust;(2)microeconomic performance perception has a negative effect on political trust.In addition,factors such as authoritarian values,people’s interest in politics and life happiness were also included in the study.Through the above analysis,the relationships among variables were analyzed and verified through descriptive analysis,correlation analysis and regression analysis.Through empirical research,the two hypotheses are verified respectively,and it is concluded that the level of political trust of Taiyuan citizens to governments at all levels has the characteristics of differential order,and that authoritarian values have a positive effect on political trust.Based on this finding,this paper explores the ways to improve the level of public political trust in China from the perspectives of economic performance perception and the formation mechanism of political trust.
