In recent years,the research and discussion on the Natuna Islands and related maritime issues in domestic and foreign academic circles have been increasing.For Indonesia,the world’s largest archipelago country,the Natuna Islands is associated with the Indonesian border security and involved in the South China Sea Dispute.It is an important part of the Global Maritime Fulcrum complement proposed by President Joko Widodo.Under the influence of the Indonesia ’s Global Maritime Fulcrum complement,the Natuna Islands policy has shown new changes and characteristics,which is worth studying and exploring.Throughout history,Indonesia’s Natuna Islands policy has both continuity and change,as well as inheritance and development.Successive Indonesian governments have basically safeguarded the interests of the Natuna Islands and its surrounding waters by many means,including law,diplomacy,and military.The new changes in the Natuna Islands policy during the Period of Joko Widodo are reflected in the content focus and implementation efforts,and they have begun to show characteristics such as“active attack”,“focus on economy”,and “tough attitude”.Indonesia’s natuna islands policy is not only a national border policy,but also related to Indonesia’s diplomacy,which has an impact on Indonesia’s domestic and external relations as well as the regional environment. |
