History-recording And Government-assisting:research On The Functions Of Archival Work Under The Leadership Of The Communist Party Of China

Among the various undertakings of the Communist Party of China and the state,archival work is an indispensable,fundamental and supporting one for recording history,carrying forward civilization,serving the society and benefiting the people.Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China,the archival work has interpreted its distinctive political attributes,adhering to the purpose of "managing the archives for the Party,guarding the history for the country and serving the people",and has actively undertaken the important functions and missions of managing the archives and benefiting the people.From the perspective of political science,this paper tries to analyze the history recording and country governing functions of archival work,so as to explore the value and the direction of future development of archival work.In terms of the function of record keeping,the author mainly synthesize the historical evolution of archives institutions and working system,including the periods from the New Democratic revolution to the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China,and to the current archival work and the institution from national archival institutions at the central level to local archival repositories.The archival records in all aspects formed in the historical process of the development of the Party and the country,which are precious historical memory and spiritual wealth,demonstrates the irreplaceable role played by the function of the archival work.In terms of the function of assisting country governing,based on the synthesis of the historical archives through the policy documents,as well as the historical records ofimportant time nodes and historical events,the author categorized the function of governing assisting into four aspects,including:(1)provide means of criticizing the nihilism of history and carrying out history education through archives;(2)provide archives and historical materials to support correct understanding of changes in institutions and mechanisms of the Party and the state;(3)provide experience to support the construction and development of the state;(4)serve the country's diplomacy and cultural transmission.Based on the analysis of the two functions of archival work,discussions on potential challenges,suggestions,and future prospects are also provided,which is expected to promote the archives work around the central task of the party and the state and improve the ability of its service to the national management system.
