Research On The Mass Feature Of Trade Unions In The Background Of The Mass Organization’s Reform

As a working-class mass organization voluntarily combined with workers,the trade union represents and safeguards basic interests of workers and staff members.It plays an irreplaceable role in organizing,uniting and serving workers and the masses.With the continuous development of reform and non-public economy,economic and social structure and workforces are undergoing a great alteration in China,and working relations are presenting the characteristics of marketization and pluralism,trade union organizations are also facing many new situations and problems.The new situation puts forward new standards and requirements for the work of trade unions,but trade union organizations still follow the original concept,management system and methods.This leads to issues as weak grassroots foundations,insufficient organizational coverage,weak defense services and insufficient representativeness becoming increasingly prominent,especially the phenomenon of institutionalization,administration,gentrification and entertainment pointed out by General Secretary Xi Jinping widely existing in trade unions.To solve these problems,trade unions must execute the top-down reform.In July 2015,the Party Central Committee held the first mass work conference to comprehensively deploy the mass organizations’ work and reform,which meant the beginning of national reform of mass organizations.As a working-class mass organization led by the Party,the trade union conscientiously implements the decisions of the central committee,closely focus on maintaining and enhancing the political,the advancement and the mass feature to carry forward the reform of trade unions nationwide.Among the three characteristics of political,advancement and mass feature,mass is the essential attribute of trade union,and also the starting point and the foothold of reform and work of trade unions.All activities of the trade union must serve the staff and the masses.Or trade unions will lose the foundation and significance of existence and become administrative and bureaucratic if they divorce from the masses.In view of this,as a trade union worker,I believe that studying the mass feature of trade unions plays a vital role in resolving the problems of institutionalization,administration,gentrification and entertainment,improving the effectiveness of trade union reforms,and promoting trade union work.To this end,this paper takes the mass feature of trade unions as the research object to carefully explores the current situation of the of mass feature of trade unions in Jinan from the perspective of trade union organizations and workers and find out the specific problems and causes of the deviation of trade unions from the masse feature through combining theory with practice.Finally,the paper brings out a proposal to strengthen the mass feature of trade unions.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the background and meaning of the topic,literature review at home and abroad and research methods.The second part introduces the basic concepts of trade unions and the theoretical basis of the paper.The third part mainly introduces the basic situation of trade unions in Jinan and its measures for implementing mass feature.Also,it further researches the mass feature of trade unions from the perspective of the staff and the masses through interviews and questionnaires.The fourth part states the main problems of the deviation of trade unions from the masse feature and analyzes the reasons through the author’s work experience and investigation.The fifth part proposes suggestions to strengthen the mass feature of trade unions by expanding the coverage of the masses,optimizing the organizational structure,improving the mechanism of connecting and serving the masses,promoting the construction of serving the masses,strengthening efforts to safeguard the masses’ rights.
