Recently, more and more information and communication technologies are used in community construction and community management, which leads to the management and services provision in the community being smarter and appearing of the construct of smart community.Smart communities provide various services, such as local government, business, entertainment, education, interpersonal communication, and healthcare services to the residents of a specific residential community through the integrated smart community system built by using various information technologies and infrastructures, which bring much convenience for community residents’ living. We define those services provided by the smart community system as smart community services.Because of complying with the demand of the public, smart community has become a trend, attracting the local governments and enterprises involving in the smart community construction and smart community services provision. The adoption of smart community services of the residents matters to smart community. However, the evidence in smart community practices shows that the adoption of residents is limited, which prevents the long-term development and objective realization of smart community.Nevertheless, empirical studies on smart community, particularly on the factors motivating residents to adopt smart community services are relatively rare.Based on previous research of information technology adoption, the current research integrates the perspectives of social influence and technology beliefs,to investigate the roles of affective community commitment(relational social influence),perceived usefulness and enjoyment(technology beliefs)in residents’ adoption intention of smart community services, including the direct effects and interaction effects(affective community commitment moderates the effects of perceived usefulness and enjoyment on residents adoption). We conduct a survey and collect 191 valid questionnaires from community residents in China. Then we use hierarchical regression analysis to test our hypotheses by SPSS.The results show that perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and affective community commitment are positively correlated to residents’ adoption intention of smart community services. And affective community commitment can weaken the effect of perceived enjoyment yet strengthen the effect of perceived usefulness on residents’adoption intention. The current study fills the research gap of limited empirical research on factors affecting residents’ adoption in smart community domain. What’s more, the current study supplements the research of social influence, and interaction effects between social influence and technology belief factors in information technology adoption domain, and further enriches the information technology adoption research. The findings of this study provide certain suggestions for smart community services provision in smart community constructions,to help promote residents’adoption. |
