Differing from the definition of traditional political parties, the democratic parties is a unique concept in the Chinese political discourse system. The idea of democratic parties was originated from the moment of national peril,in which intellectuals, who sought for national independence and democratic politics, were the main section. There were tendency and criticism among democratic parties for the political opinions and basic policies of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party,as a self-selection of the main body of nation-state construction. On the other hand,China,as a complex and pluralistic political system,in order to maintain internal integration and complete national construction, the country required a leader. This meant the choice of political parties. At that time, there were democratic parties in China, such as the Kuomintang, the Communist Party, and other third parties.Due to the weakness of the bourgeoisie, the lack of military strength, and internal political differences, the democratic parties cannot independently assume the task of national independence.During the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the democratic parties chose to attach to the Kuomintang, supporting Chiang Kai-shek as the national leader,as well as accepting the Three People's Principles and entering the National Political Participation Council, where they used limited participation of political power to persuade the Kuomintang to unite against Japan and open the political power. As a product of the democratic experiment at that time, the National Political Participation Council began with a good intention of the three parties facing political opposition. The establishment was praised by the democratic parties as a public opinion organ,a foundation of the future National Assembly,as well as a training ground for parliamentary politics. However, from the perspective of jurisprudence, the organization of democratic parties was not a representative institution in the general sense. There was no universal democratic election, which led to no legislative power and binding power for government agencies. Thus, government agencies were not responsible for it.As the result, although the National Political Participation Council was a sign that the Democratic Party and the Kuomintang had reached a certain degree of reconciliation,it was still a tool for the Kuomintang to maintain a safe distance between democratic parties and government agencies, which did not have any connections with the cooperation among parties and political pluralism. The construction of a nation-state required a spontaneous leader. As the constructor of the political system, the ruling party needed to make clear and accurate judgments on real politics.During the political revolution, the 'To resist foreign aggression there must be internal stability' polices that the Kuomintang chose disappointed the democratic parties while the Communist Party chose a revolutionary force that relied on mobilization and organization, summed up the basic experience of consolidating and developing the united front, developing progressive forces, striving for intermediate forces, and isolating stubborn forces Under the guidance of the united front, the Communist Party helped the three parties and three factions to complete the unity and development from the unified state comrades association to the Chinese democratic alliance. The democratic parties also contributed their own strength in the public opinion propaganda of the democratic coalition government. After the founding of New China, the multi-party cooperation and political consultation system led by the Communist Party of China was established as a basic political system. As a long and continuous process of political change, national construction still requires the cooperation of the Communist Party and the democratic parties.
