Max Weber has carried a deep investigation into the “rationalism" of modern society,in the different areas of study throughout for rational analysis, this paper chooses his research on the religious sociology, legal sociology, govern sociology, economic social history and related discourses.Weber has seen the rationalization as a significant feature of modernity, and at the same time,he also has noticed the rational significance bringing the risk of losing meaning and freedom, that is,the problem of rational cage.England,as the cradle of modern capitalism,is always under weber’s comparative perspective in the field of his researches. The British law,the British administrative mode, and its economic and social status, have formed a comparison of weber’s empirical study and theoretical analysis. In weber’s sociology of law,he saw the anti-establishment characteristics of English law.In weber’s sociology of domination,he saw the prominent administrative features of English law.In weber’s economic and social history,he saw the peculiarities of England’s agricultural society. The special situation in England seems to strike a balance between rationalization and freedom.Under the comparative study of these fields, the special situation in England does not seem to fit accurately into the conceptual framework and theoretical framework of weber’s construction. This paper is devoted to presenting the comparison of weber and combining the analysis of relevant thinkers to try to provide some thoughts on weber’s "rational cage" problem.
