In 2017 Kazakhstan and China took stock of 20 years of cooperation in the oil and gas sector.Over the years,the rate of oil production and processing has increased significantly.Cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the oil sector began in 1997 with the signing of the agreement between CNPC and the Government of Kazakhstan to acquire shares of the "Aktyubinskneft"。At present,China has implemented the Initiative "Economic Zone of Silk Road",which is in linking with the Kazakhstan program for economic development "Nurly Zhol".This gives even greater impetus to the development of comprehensive cooperation and relations between China and Kazakhstan.At the same time,we should pay attention to the fact that in the course of deepen oil and gas cooperation between the two countries,there will be revealed possible problems in this area.In this regard,this paper is intended to examine possible problems that may arise during the implementation of cooperation projects in the oil and gas sphere.The paper is organized as follows.Chapter 1 provides an analysis of the oil and gas industry development in China,overseas investments by China in oil and gas sector and analysis of oil and gas situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.Chapter 2presents a review of oil and gas cooperation between countries,China’s main investments and oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan.Chapter 3 provides factors influencing cooperation between two nations.Chapter 4 examines an analysis of problems of oil and gas cooperation and prospects of cooperation development.
