This article uses an empirical research method to compare and analyze the use of traditional media by candidates before the Internet intervene in the election and the use of new media after the Internet intervenes in elections,in order to demonstrate that the involvement of the Internet in the traditional election model is shaken and subverted. There are two economic and political implications of the Internet's involvement in the US's electoral politics: lower election costs for candidates in terms of economy, increasing the channels for raising funds and enriching the way in political marketing;for voters Words have broadened the channels for political participation and promoted the political mobilization of the Internet. At the same time, starting from the principles of economics, the analysis of Internet involvement in elections has also overcome the “free rider” problem to some extent. The main political influence is on the democratic model, including its influence on party politics and on the effects of democracy. That is,the involvement of the Internet has weakened the role of political parties and has made it possible to convert indirect democracy into direct democracy. Finally,it evaluated the two sides of the Internet's involvement in elections and concluded that new media such as the Internet have had a tremendous impact on traditional election politics, and gradually promoted changes in the traditional election model and promoted the development of democratic politics;China can learn from the United States' experience in using the Internet to develop democratic politics and it has very good practical significance for China.
